I live in a very rural area of southern NY state (Hudson Valley). 20 years ago we did not have cable - we releyed on Satellite dish for TV. We had telephone service via Frontier. Long before DSL, I had a fractional T1 to the house - very expensive for poor service. Later I used ISDN and finally DSL. I never had reliable internet.
About 8 years ago, TW/RR became available, I believe we were lucky to get 1Mbps at the time.
Over the years, the service and speeds have continually improved - to the point where my Turbo Tier gives me consistent 30Mbps/1Mbps service. The service has been rock solid - very few issues. On the few occasions where there has been issues it was not simple - a bad piece of hardware out on the street. TW technicians worked with me to isolate and repair the issues quickly.
I have a Morotola SB Cable modem - still DOCSIS 2 and have multiple networks behind my router. I also have 2 Vonage adapters which share this connection.
