UPDATE: I would have to say I'm impressed with the reliability. Since the last time I reviewed I can only think of one time it went down (And only for a hour). Also I have been unable to get power boost even though it is available in my area. Which is not a big deal but I would like to have it. The Digital Cable still have been a issue it goes down more frequently then with TWC but with the new programing and vast improvement of On Demand service (Including the many free things available) I still like it. My major gripe is they promised no price increases and they've had 2-3 now. Overall I'm pretty satisfied and looking forward to DOCSIS 3.0 in the next year or so. UPDATE: I recently upgrade to Blast! (16/2 in my area) tier and I'm really impressed with my speeds which have been advertised and a little more at all times. I purchaced a Motorola SB5101 when circuit city was closing and its been flawless and I'm able to get power boost finally with speeds around 25/3 on power boost. Followup comments:

One glitch (minor) after having Comcast HSI for about a month: One night, my cable boxes all had updated messages about an upcoming channel change. Apparently, as a result of that my cable modem got messed up and was not working correctly. I tried a reset (unplug modem, wait about a minute, replug) with no luck. Called Comcast, they ran me through similar "cable modem voodoo" with no success and offered to send a tech out. No thanks. I unplugged the modem for about 20-30 mins and then when I replugged it came back and has been fine ever since. I am still quite happy, overall, with the Comcast HSI. I have had DSL since about May of 2003 from a local provider and, although I was happy with the service, I was wanting faster speeds. My ISP told me that the 768/128 I was getting was the best they could do (I live on the edge of town in a rural area), and there were no plans to upgrade in the future. Comcast has been offering HSI for the past year or two, so I began to investigate Comcast cable Internet. I must admit that, initially, I was pretty sure I was not going to change service providers because of all the negative comments about Comcast that are all over the Internet. However, I spent a couple of weeks searching on various web sites and found at least *some* information that suggested I could get Comcast's service to work. I decided to buy a new Airport base station to replace my original from 2003 and I purchased a Motorola Surfboard SB 5101 Cable Modem (Comcast charges $3.00 a month for rental and I got the SB 5101 for - no kidding - $51.01. I set up a new network with the Comcast HSI so that, if something went wrong during the install (reports I read on the Internet suggested that was a definite possibility), I could still use my DSL to surf the Internet for information. I picked up my "self install" kit on Friday, August 28 and installed the splitter and had everything else ready for the install but the modem did not arrive until late Friday evening so I waited until the next morning to do the install. I connected the modem on Saturday morning and called Comcast with the modem MAC address and serial number. The first person I talked with had trouble getting the modem to be recognized and, when she tried to transfer me, we lost our connection. When i called back, I spoke with an *extremely* helpful and patient rep who was able to get the modem fired up and, when I was not able to connect with my laptop, was able to help me troubleshoot my connection. (It seems that somehow the Proxy settings were changed in my Network System Preferences. Once we turned those off, things worked fine.) I shut down the modem, went out to run an errand, returned a short time later and connected my Airport to the modem and got the wireless network up and running very quickly. I went from download speeds of around 580-700 kbps and uploads around 120 kbps to downloads of 5000+ (I've been over 7000) and uploads in the 2400-2500 range (and have been over 4000). I will pay $19.95 for the first 6 months, $42.95 thereafter. This compares to $44.95 for my DSL (DSL included a modem, Comcast does not). I still think the deal is very good. It is too early to say how reliable the service will be, but thus far I have had no problems. I will try to update this review if I do run into any problems, Thus far, my experience with Comcast has been good. Followup comments:

First, some history. I'm in a relatively new condo complex, and the options here are Comcast (DOCSIS 3.0) or Qwest (ADSL2+). For the last 18 months, I've been fighting random connection dropouts with Comcast. These dropouts last 5-10 seconds. Not too bad if you're downloading files, killer for using SSH or (worse yet) playing online games. 10 seconds of disconnect in a WoW arena means a loss, pretty much every time. This has happened to me so many times that I now refer to losses caused by connectivity issues as "being Comcasted". The frequency of these issues is inconsistent. Sometimes it happens once or twice a week (which is acceptable), sometimes it happens 10+ times in one day. I had a friend over yesterday and we lost 10 games because of this problem before giving up for the night. Signal levels are great (44dBmV up, around 0dBmV down). I have had numerous tech visits. All of my cable, splitters (two 2-way splitters), and connectors from the box on the side of the condo building to my modem have been replaced. I have used multiple routers and multiple cable modems. I thought that the problem might be "modem drift" (dynamic channel changes), but it's not - my DOCSIS 3.0 modem drops out without changing channel. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that Comcast can do about my problem. Customer support reps can confirm the problem, which affects my voice service as well. I called about the problem again, last night, for the 10th or 15th time (I've lost track). Comcast offered to send another technician. Frankly, that sucks. At that point I didn't want more technician visits, I wanted the problem fixed. After the call, my friend and I drove to the Qwest store and got a DSL modem. The modem was free, I get 12Mbps DSL for $47/mo for the next 12 months ($55/mo thereafter, which is comparable to Comcast without TV/phone). Will the Qwest DSL be slower than the 22/5 I have right now? Yes, by quite a bit. It's also going to have inferior latency unless I can be put on fastpath. But you know what? If it doesn't cut out randomly for 5 seconds at a time, it will be worth it. I'm tired of being told that my line is fine and that everything is working. I want an Internet connection that delivers packets 100% of the time. No one would put up with an electrical grid that randomly stops working for 5-10 seconds at a time every so often (and sometimes several times in the same day). FYI, the problems seem to occur more frequently on Friday and Saturday nights, which is (incidentally) when we play WoW arenas. Followup comments:
