I went ahead and ordered the Pro package as well as digital phone and analog cable even though I didn't "need" it all. Coming from a wireless internet provider using cell phone signal this is a 1000% improvement.
I ran the speedtest during Fri afternoon and was getting max speeds of ~7700Kbps which had me feeling unsatisfied. I just ran it again early Sat. morning and peaked over 15000Kbps which is what I expect to peak around.
I do not THINK I would go near the 100GB monthly cap but I still do imagine being warned about it some day because I spent too long surfing the Tubes.
The installer was quick, friendly and made the installation painless. There was a moment of worry when the digital phone wasn't working. He called into support right away. The modem just took a few minutes to register the VOIP.
My advice to people considering Cogeco for internet is to go ahead and try it. Just as in any serious purchase, research the products/services offered. There are footnotes to almost every contract. Cogeco has made theirs easy to understand but they still should be read and understood.

When shopping for broadband access, I was almost already set on Cogeco due to my family using their services for years and never having a problem, but I figured I'd shop around.
I considered TekSavvy and other DSL providers, but chose speed over a higher cap, because I figured that I wouldn't be over the cap on a consistent basis anyhow.
High speed standard ($44.99/month) suits my needs as I do a decent amount of streaming and media downloading, coupled with a moderate amount of online gaming (over XBox Live). I have not had a problem or complaint regarding the speed of the service thus far, nor the reliability of it.
One negative I could mention is that when I tried to book an appointment, the online ordering system was broken for over two days, and I did not have phone service yet to call to sign up for the service (phone service is VOiP). That was a bit inconvenient, but the install did go quick and painless with the tech being friendly and efficient.
I would not hesitate to recommend Cogeco to my family and friends, which I've successfully done a few times already.

pretty good value for the money, can slow down to 56k speeds at times and randomly goes out for an hour to a few hours, tech support is quick and you can fully understand what they say, overall still a good company and offer good service and support

Download is ok at around 9,000-9,400 but upload could be much higher than 640. Always keeping an eye on the competition and if the right deal came along would likely make the switch.

Although I loved TekSavvy, I just lived to far away from the CO to get a proper stable connection. So I decided to switch to Cogeco.
So far it seems very good, I went with the business starter package because I needed the extra bandwidth. It seems fairly the same as the commercial service to me though (I have a friend who has the 10Mbps Standard, and he gets the same ping, pretty much the same reliability as me as well).
So far so good. I just don't like the pricing. For the residential, the 10Mbps with 60GB cap (combined) is ridiculous, business starter seems a bit high as well. As well, the throttling. Even the business plans are throttled.

I previously had DSL service with AEI Internet (based out of Montreal, Quebec), however I had to switch due to sucky Bell lines and being to far from Bell central office (as DSL is distance dependant). I highly recommend them as a DSL provider for great prices. Unfortunately, where I am located, I was lucky to get 500kb or 600kb down max on my line. The speeds were brutal and were unacceptable. I was forced to switch to Cogeco cable for faster and reliable service. Now with my Cogeco Cable review. They seem to be a rock solid internet provider and their technical support staff seems to know their stuff. They have dispatched techs and attempted to bill me for repair that wasn't my equipment but with their lines. It was a problem with the signal getting to my home. This has been resolved. I am quite familar with the process of how this stuff works my self as I work as a technical support technician for a local ISP. The package I ordered with Cogeco was 10Mb download and 600kb upload. Relatively satisfied with the service. Ordering over the phone was a breeze and the install was a couple days later. They barried the cable the next week. They give you a rental modem and it is included in the price. This probably has a lot to do with why the service is more expensive and bandwidth costs. They don't give you an option to purchase the cable modem outright. For what is available online (eg. streaming media, music, etc), you can hit 60GBs very quickly if you aren't careful. I also use Vonage for home phone which also uses bandwidth and I had to adjust accordingly. If you want good fast speeds, this is definitely a good company to consider but just watch your bandwidth usage. I am hoping this will be changed in the future - Support Net Neutrality - www.saveournet.org

"best available in my area for a cable ISP - had my share of issues with speed and phone/install technicians"

This is a good ISP overall if you don't have much else to choose from. The speeds for me have been as advertised, but I ran into my share of connection and speed problems over the 8 years I have used this ISP.
I'm on a business package and while the price isn't bad for what I get speed/cap wise, I could use more bandwidth.
I just want to get right out the shoot - and say thanks to the first tech who installed my internet back in 2001. He was so professional that he just put a new splitter on my living room cable tv line and ran a cable to my cable modem. That worked for about 5 hours before another tech was sent out to do it properly.
The current downside for me is the inconsistent tech support - I usually have to get 2nd and 3rd phone tech opinions when I have a problem before I get around to a straight answer. Some tech's are more willing to work with you than others, considering my attitude was positive throughout - this was disappointing.
In the end, I would like to see Cogeco start offering tiered business packages where you can purchase blocks of extra bandwidth. This appeals to me specifically, but perhaps others have similar needs in this area.
The next best package is $89.99/month for 200gb bandwidth. A bit pricey for me, so I just more carefully monitor my bandwidth.
Bottom line, I have no real reason to switch unless another cable ISP becomes available in my area, with services that are in my favor. Current DSL alternatives are not in my best interests as I wasn't able to get Bell Sympatico working due to possible phone line issues where I live. This though is speculation, as Bell was not able to tell me why the internet wouldn't work.
