My company decided to go with Broadview when we moved 5 years ago in order to have one vendor for voice, data and hardware. We saved money by consolidating our various phone numbers through one company and the price we were quoted is what we are paying--no hidden surprises when the bill came. Overall service has been reliable, and we intend to use Broadview again when we move to new office space.

I was a little hesitant about switching my voice and data over to Broadview. I have had the office suite for about 3 months with no complaints. The service has been reliable. There was a few service issues at install, but they were handled quickly. I was able to upgrade my service and still save money.

I have the office suite from Broadview networks. I have had very few problems with their service. The small ones that I have had were corrected in a timely manner.

This service has saved our company money since the system was able to grow with our business with very little downtime.

    June 16th 2009 edit
After a year of trouble free service, Broadview dropped the ball this week.
We had problems with a phone line going dead, and after reviewing the issue with their tech support, they scheduled a tech to do a visit and repair. (ticket #1135845)
This tech failed to show up Monday afternoon as promised. We attempted to reschedule for Tuesdays, and that too was a no show.
Attempts to escalate thus far have been unsuccessful.

    May 17/2009 edit:
After going through some issue with Broadview, I am happy to say we have had over a year of trouble free service.
I am therefore editing this initial review to say so, and adjusting the ratings in an upward direction.

    Original post 5/13/2008
We purchased through a consulting firm who recommended Broadview (I believe we can safely say they would never recommend them to us again)
We have a T1 designed to dynamically split voice and data depending on demand. I believe they call it coreFlex.
Looks good on paper, somewhat unstable, but most the time works ok.
When problems occur though, it’s a nightmare dealing with support, supervisors, middle management and even the executive offices.
One should not have to climb multiple levels to the President and CEO just to get someone to come out and fix it. (And this is after they say they are sending someone out! ). We just completed our 2nd multiday outage in the last year. They say they are sending techs out, and they end up no shows when we are down hard (BOTH VOICE and DATA!)
I urge you to look elsewhere.

    Bad experience

Someone warned me about this company just a few weeks AFTER I signed up. How unfortunate. They are pretty bad. Our phone service is unreliable and the internet is slow. I have never had a phone service that goes down. Their service does. Not once, but every four months or so. Our phone service was down for more than half an hour on several occasions. Think about what that would do to your business. These people are terrible. Stay away. There really are not cheaper at all and have nothing good to offer. I deeply regret using their phone service and will never use it again.

    Horrible service.
In the past we have had problems with our PRI, down for WEEKS!!!
Finally after taking pictures of the poles (exposed rats nest) and sending
them to the PRESIDENT of the company do they decide to fix.

It happened before everytime it rained, now I think the same problem is happening.

The company I work for has lost thousands in business because of their service.

Do not go with this company as a T1 provider.

New York,New York,NY

"Awful Service, Rude Support, and Incompetent - Expect Poor Service"
"DO NOT USE BROADVIEW NETWORKS - GO ELSEWHERE"

We have been using their service for nearly 3 years as they have us in a contract. We've had trouble with them since the beginning. Our Internet goes in and out and today it's been out all day. Our office staff had to be let go because our phones and Internet connection were out all day. When I explained the situation to their customer support, they don't seem to care and say a rep will call me back. I was told this 4 times today and still no one has called me.

Asking for a supervisor is a waste of time because it doesn't seem they have any supervision. There is clearly mismanagement there and each individual who answers the phone just transfers you to the next department. I'm surprised they are still in business with their awful service.

I urge to look elsewhere unless you want to face the nightmares we've dealt with over the years with them. We would have along time ago if it wasn't for their agreements, but will be searching for a more reputable provider soon as our term is nearly up.

    Good luck. You've been warned.

We got Broadview's 10Mbps Zoom service for $1000/mo in our NYC office.

Huge mistake. Service was down frequently (20+ outages in the last four months alone) and experienced consistent low packet loss (nightmare for any kind of SNMP, UDP, or ICMP traffic).

Customer Support was worthless. Usually I had to *convince* them that there was a problem or walk them through running commands on their switches/routers (seriously, if you can't ping from a particular router interface, you don't belong in a NOC). I never got calls back (and I was promised that a LOT).

My Sales Reps were equally crap. When I started calling them to get help with their shit support, my first rep bailed and stopped returning calls or emails. I was assigned another rep who did the same after about a month. Finally I managed to get out of our contract, and now I'm running out the clock till my uninstall date.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, go with Broadview. You're better off with an end-user DSL connection if that's all you can get.

    Re: broadview service

It took me a couple months worth of collecting outage statistics, and getting escalated to innumerable different places. I ended up calling their Corporate office and telling the poor receptionist that I was fed up with the minions and needed to talk to someone about getting out of my contract right now.

That got me escalated to some contract cancellation department. They went through their processes, wasted time, and eventually I just told them that they would cancel our second and third contract years and the service would end after our first.

They consented and that was that.

Though it's 100% bullshit that it required that much effort and time. If they hadn't consented, we'd have taken the contract to our company lawyer and gotten some threatening letters sent their way.

    Good luck.

We are constantly having issues with these guys and we will be switching services asap. There servers are constantly down and things are constantly going slow, i would not recommend broadview to anyone ever, ever.

Several small changes can turn into disasters with there clueless tech support. We once tried to change a single mx record and they ended up forwarding our website halfway around the globe. There tech support is a bunch of unexperienced children.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE COMPANY.

"OK Service"
"Bad tech Support"
"Ok Service if you can keep them out of their own networks"

Today’s tech tip is based on my favorite game - poker.

Remember that if you are going to represent a hand, and Bluff at it, MAKE SURE your Opponent doesn’t actually have the hand you’re representing. If he calls your Raise on the flop and re-raises you on the Turn, You might want to consider the fact that he may have that hand.

We all know how arrogant and condescending ISP’s are. Here’s how My client and I turned the tables on a Broadview ISP Tech. I opened a ticket with Broadview ISP on 2 down T1’s out of a 3 T1 MPP going to my client's Corporate location today around 10:00am. When I hadn’t heard from them I called them around 4:00pm to find the status of the ticket. I was told that everything was up and functioning and that I would receive a call from someone shortly. I called my client and asked him what the status was and he said that nothing had changed and that there were 2 (AL)arm LEDS on the router glowing amber. Knowing that 2 of the 3 t1’s were down I had my client UNPLUG the 2 down t1’s from the router.

When ISP tech called me back, first thing he said was that everything was up and the problem must be on our side. I asked him if he showed that all of the interfaces said they were up, he said yes. I asked him if he was in the router, he said no but asked me to hold, he came back about 5 minutes later and said that he was in the router and all Circuits were up. (poker reference here – I call.).

I told him that I found that hard to believe because I had 2 of the 3 t1’s unplugged from the router. He said that he was looking at the interfaces and both E0 and Multi1 said that they were UP/UP.

I asked him what the status of S0/0, s0/1 and S1/0 were. After giving him the command to see these interfaces,( more free training) again he says they are up. (Poker Reference here- I Raise).

He puts me on hold. Since he said all 3 interfaces were up, I had my client unplug the 3rd T1. Immediately he came back from hold and asked if I had done something. I explained to him that since all 3 interfaces were up, that unplugging the 3rd one shouldn’t have brought down the router. I then asked my client to plug in the 2 down T1’s, and asked the ISP tech what the status was. He said he couldn’t get into the router. I explained to him what a Physical interface was, and plugged in the good T1. He tells me that he’s now back in the router and everything is UP/UP, when in-fact I know that the other 2 T1’s are down. I asked him to check the serial interfaces and now he says that S0/0 and S0/1 are down. He then asks me if everything is plugged in at the router, of-course it is. I asked him to get out of the router and had my client Swap S0/0 and S1/0 t1’s. The router came back up. I asked the tech to get back into the router (poker Reference here- ALLIN).

I asked him the status of his interfaces. He tells me that S0/0 is up and S0/1 and S1/0 are down. Finally he sees that the T1’s are down, and will have to get someone from provisioning to check them.

He said I should get a call back from someone tomorrow about them.

Hope they bring more chips back to the table.

I ordered Broadview networks services and approximately 6 months later I received a better deal from Optimum online and switched the services. A month later I receive a bill from Broadview networks for almost $500.00. When I called to ask what it was for, they told me it was for breach of contract. They claimed I signed a one year contract with them. I did no such thing. I told them if they can show me the contract, I would pay the money. When I asked for proof of contract, they said they would send it to me. After two months of not sending me any proof of the contract, they sent my information over to a collections agency. I told the collections agency the same thing, they told me they would get me signed contract from Broadview and call me back. They called me back and said there was no contract, it was a verbal contract/agreement. There are no verbal contracts in businesses.Yet another two months later I receive a call from another collections agency. They threaten to ruin my credit if I didn't pay the money. There was never any contract signed, there was nothing verbally mentioned on the phone either. It would have cost me more money to hire a lawyer and go to court so I had to pay. I would not go back to them even if they offered me free service for the rest of my life. I would strongly advise everyone to stay away from Broadview Networks.
