| A Remote Terminal (RT) is fiber fed extension of the central office bringing the capabilities of the central office closer to customers. The remote terminals use next-generation digital loop carriers (Litespan, SLC, Urban, Optera) to provide high-speed data services and traditional telephone service to additional customers, typically those who live farther than a two or three-mile radius of a central office.
