[Connectivity] Frederick, MD issues
Is any one else having issues in Frederick, MD? For three days the connection has been extremely slow, when it works at all. Have tried power cycling modem several times to no avail. Attempted to bypass my router and connect directly to the modem, even tried replacing the modem thinking it was failing. None of these things have helped. Adelphia/Comcast phone center doesn't seem to see any local issues.

Yeah, it has been damn slow for me as well (Urbana). Barely able pull 30KB/sec on the line during the day, and lucky to hit 100KB/sec at night.. This has been going on for the past couple weeks here.

It might be because of us transitioning has anyone seen the mess they made with our On Demand?

I live in New Market and I have noticed in the past couple of evenings the speeds have been extremely slow.... 90KB/sec most of the time.
Anyone have any additional details regarding these horrible connection speeds?
My pings are what they have been for months (quite good), but the speed has dropped off a lot and I am paying for the higher download speeds......

Slow here in Middletown. Nice that I just received the rate increase notice. This is BS. Comcast is raising the rate $15/month.

I've been having a problem for over a week now - after much time on the phone I was told that there was a server upgrade due to the Comcast conversion. As of today - I'm back online with no issues except that I can't get my new wireless card configured. If you're still having problems, when you call comcast tech make sure they check the status of the server upgrade. It's my understanding the the full conversion is to be completed in the Frederick area by 3/9

Well, yet another week has past and my download speeds are horrible. Comcast came out and inspected my line and said it was fine (which is what I expected since I have been having good pings).
I did a speedtest at multiple sites....
87-120K down and about 80 up. I will call again today. Charge me $15 more a month and have horrible speeds like this......this is almost like ISDN speeds.
The government should never allow large companies to buy other large companies....prices go up, service goes down.

Downloads speeds are horrible tonight....actually some of the worst in the past week or so.
Does anyone know who to call to try and resolve this issue? I call adelphia and all they want to do is send out a tech......

Definitely gotten better here in the past few weeks, however I'm definitely unhappy about the rate increase and as soon as FIOS is available in my area, I WILL jump ship. $70 a month is way too much to pay for cable modem technology that only works after spending hours on the phone with tech support and having techs out to the house several times.

There is nothing wrong with your equipment
or any thing that a "Truck roll" will fix
this is a bandwidth issue. Its been the same
here in 20165 VA for at least a week.

Hello,
I see that you are living in the middletown area, and I wanted to warn you about Comcast.
I was paying for the 6 meg package from Adelphia, and within the past few months, I've noticed my speeds gettin slower and slower.
Well two days ago I call Comcast and asked them what the deal was.
They informed me that THIS area has been caped at 4 megs!
Here I was paying extra money every month for more bandwidth and they capped it without telling me.
Now I have seen BURSTS at a 5.30 meg level but they quickly fall back down to the 4.3-3.9mbs level.
I would like for everyone in the middletown area to call comcast and tell them you want the 6 meg (which is there standard service level anyway) service resumed for our area.
Heck, they even offer a 8 meg service in some places!
I've called and called them, and of course I get the run around. So I am taking my cause to the people.
But I'm hounding Verizon to bring FIOS into the area, but it seems a very slow process to get all the red tape cut away...Comcast puts up a pretty hard fight when someone with a better service and lower cost comes to town.
Thanks for your time

Just was switched to a Comcast IP today from Adelphia, I wonder if this is being done in stages or is fully complete?

not sure...could mean something. Last time I talked to a Tech he said they were starting the HSI transitioning on the 11th and it might take a few days this week, also our Ondemand is in need of repairs, no word on when that would be back at 100%. He did say everyone is to be transitioned by April 13. I would assume that meant everyone in the U.S.

I just did a speed test and my download speed went from around 4000 down to 6200 down. Upload speeds stayed about the same. I also have a comcast ip now.

Re: [Connectivity] Frederick, MD issues
my DHCP lease releases every 15 minutes and takes 1 minute to renew causing my router to time out. I called support and got a run around saying no problem at our end even after I sent them the logs from the router showing what was happening. So I connected my modem direct to my linux box and logged every hickup from the modem and was told your connection is not working because you are running linux. I was not aware that TCP/IP gave a rats ass what my OS is. Comcast is Craptastic.

Why would you force your router, or your linux box to release every 15 minutes? Set it for 24 hours (or longer) and forget about it.

If you had adelphia 8 meg you are now getting comcast 6 meg but being charged for 8. Also you are being double billed for march CHECK YOUR COMCAST BILL!! Its about double what it should be. They say 8 meg service isnt avail but the rate code is so you are being charged!

Re: [Connectivity] Frederick, MD issues
Adelphia never had 8 Mb service, so whatever you were getting, you were not reading the speeds correctly.

They most certainly did have 8Mb it was called Premier, had if for 3 years. If you want if from Comcast in frederick have them use code QF1. Thats the ONLY way you will get it. My service is back to where it was with Adelphia. Adelphia had a lot of other services I bet you didnt know about like Dynamic IP and faster upstream options. Comcast does too if you do the research and tell THEM what code to use.

Dynamic IP wow!
Please at least be factual. You are talking to Ex Adelphia employees!
Thank You.

No, Adelphia NEVER had 8Mb tier, it was 6Mb tier. I used to work in the Buffalo call center up until December, so don't presume you know more than me when it comes to the speeds they offered. I used to troubleshoot them ALL day long for 4 years. And dynamic IP's? man, where have YOU been, that's all they offer.
EDIT: That's all they offer for residential users, thought I would clarify before someone jumped on me for the static IP stuff. :p
