Who got a transition e-mail last night?
The title says it all, who got the transition e-mail last night? I must say it was a nice surprise this morning. I didn't know we were so close to transition.. Any idea on when it looks like we'll actually switch over and if we'll ACTUALLY get any speed increases? tia

The dates for Palm Beach County are as follows:
march 23-27
If you have trouble connecting after the transition i would reboot modem and/or router, worse case reboot computer or ipconfig release/renew.
I believe we may be getting new ip's which is going to give me grief since i have to adjust my apache server .cfg's and my .html links.

Well as an update there was a Comcast van snooping around all the HSI houses today with two guys in it.. He was looking at my drop and I asked him about the transition. He said they're not really in the loop but what he did know is that 6 Mbps is the speed increase and that we should see phone service in August to September.. :(
Not exactly the news I wanted to hear.. Anyone have any idea why they were going from HSI house to HSI house?

Usually when a 2 man team drives around house to house they are looking for "CLI=Signal Leakage".Don't worry,as long as you've paid you're bill or don't have any signal leakage from your drop or house they won't bother you.We just had the FCC flyover and we have to fix the leaks that the FCC have found to be over the limit.

lol that would turn out bad.. Instead of any speed increases with the transition we would actually LOSE bandwidth. :hmm:

Yep I got one to. We've been "Comcast" or almost Comcast for around two months now. The TV says Comcast on channel one and so on and so forth. I just look at this as the "offical notice" that I'm going to be fully transitioned over. With that said my internet has been going off and on since last Friday and it'll just plain stop for a couple minutes. The email did say that while transitioning you might notice interruptions, so thats probably it.
I will miss Adelphia though as I only had one or two problems with my service through many years.

Re: Who got a transition e-mail last night?
We got one here in Mendocino County in Northern California last night too. We had already received a letter early this month stating it would all be done by tomorrow, the 23rd. Well, our modem got knocked offline today, and I checked in the modem's logs, and it said a software update had failed, and my router showed a 10. address, so I knew we were completely offline.
I called up Comcast tonight, and after several minutes of her trying to find our account, she reprovisioned our modem, and we got back online. Well, we were on the Premier Tier with Adelphia, 6000/768, the modem had been provisioned at 7500/968, but when she redid our modem tonight, we got caps set at 4800/460. Oh, one other thing, she said they had no info on our area being transitioned, and acted suprised about the letter we had received. We were paying 59 a month to Adelphia, we had better not be paying that now to Comcast for 4000/400 when we were getting 6000/768 for that price.
Nobody at Comcast or Adelphia can help me at all, I'm pretty frustated about this thing, to say the least. One other odd thing, if that was the new config file, all our info is still showing Adelphia, who knows what's up.

Re: Who got a transition e-mail last night?
Okay, so I call up the 886831000, everything says Comcast, but when I get to a rep instead of saying Comcast as the last one did, he said Adelphia. I told him we got sent the wrong speed configs, and in looking he said we were now with Comcast and our Adelphia account number is now our Comcast number, does that sound right? I thought we were getting new account numbers, not that I care about what numbers they are, but I wish I could find out what was going on.
I went to Comcast.com to try and set up an account with that number, it still doesn't work, so are with them now or not? He also said we'd have to speak with billing to get the higher speeds (which makes no sense, I've had it happen before and reps sent out the right file easily), and he couldn't send a file out...and I'm more confused and frustated than ever. He also said "if we were on Premier", shouldn't he be able to see what we were on or are supposed to be on? ARGGGHHHHHH
Edit-I think I know what they did now, we were paying 59 a month for the premier tier, 6000/768 and do not subscribe to cable tv. I checked on Comcast.com, and their 4000/384 tier is 56 a month for non cable tv subcribers, but the 8000/768 is 66 a month for non cable tv subscribers. Now, I think they must have looked and said "well, 56 bucks is closer to 59, so we'll put him on that tier", uhh, yeah, but the speeds are NOWHERE near what we were getting on Premier. I wonder if calling billing tomorrow will do any good, they seem to be more confused than I am.

Well, I went online to the tech chat (Comcast's still won't work for this area, I had to go back to adelphia.net), and explained the problem. He sent me the Premier Tier config file, and speeds as you can see are back to normal :) I asked him about the date, and he said today is the day for our transition, just like our letter says, but so far the routing, ip's, etc. are still the same.

From all your speed tests, those are not Comcast config files.
With Comcast, the upload has no overhead. You show upload speeds above 384 & then above 768. The exceptions are "Upload PowerBoost", which would put your upload up extremely high from 1500 on up.

Yes, I know that Hob, I'm just going by the letter which said everything would be transitioned by today, the 23rd. The local office also told me this would begin on the 21st, so either somebody's telling a fib or they are running behind ;) I mean, no skin off my back if it's today or Sunday, I'm just trying to keep a heads up on this, being the tech support guy for my family :)
That's what I was thinking too Johkal, those speeds just reminded me of the 4000/384 tier Comcast advertises. I sure hope they get it right this weekend.
Edit-Some more changes have happened with our account, Adelphia ebilling stopped working today for the first time, now when we put in our info it gives us-
"Your account is inactive at this time. To activate your account, please enter in your account number and select the continue button"
Our bill used to generate on the 26th, and we'd get an email around the 28th saying the bill was ready, I guess we'll have to wait on Comcast this time. This to me says they've completely moved our account over to Comcast, Adelphia says we don't exist now.

Well I thought we were too.. but I'm currently at the 6/768 Premier Adelphia tier and see speeds of 6.8-7/880.. I was told that there was going to be no increase over 6Mb in our area.. so that means previous Adelphia Premier subscribers will actually lose speed when the caps are adjusted. Which sucks.

We may get them eventually like sometime around August-Sept from what I've been told.. So for those of us on 6/768 enjoying the high caps now we'll see a decrease after this weekend. lol I hope they don't lower us to the 6/384 tier :p I mean no matter what my upload is going down from 880 unless they magically enable the 16/1 or 16/2 tier.
Does anyone know if they offer the 8/768, 16/1, or 16/2 tier anywhere in South Florida?
I don't know what's going to happen and I wish someone who did would just say it..

Re: Who got a transition e-mail last night?
For the last couple weeks my internet has been acting up but my main concern is my Xbox live, I cant seem to connect to DNS servers through adelphia anymore. I've had Comcast come out to my house 3 times this past week and a half, and they;ve accomplished nothing but give me a answer as to why I cant connect. I received a letter in the mail explaining nearly nothing about the transition to comcast. But the two technicians I had here today said that shouldn't be the problem then installed new wiring all around my house, which didnt fix the problem, so I bought a new Motorola cable modem supposedly the fastest best-buy has to offer. Plugged it in, and couldn't even get internet access until I called adelphia/comcast and they reset my modems settings. So with new ip and new modem I decide to check my speed, 2000/200, I was 4000/300 before the techs messed around with everything, and I still cant connect to xbox live via my xbox360. I've tried calling every number they could pull from their rears and theres nothing that could be done, or so I was told. I've tried everything from release/renew to trying OpenDNS servers. I feel like taking some kind of legal action against these people and will if april comes around with no improvements(Halo3 beta released in april) and I'm not paying my cable bill to not be able to connect to xbox live. Its getting pretty frustrating. I'm not too sure about that march23-27th comment because I've been experiencing these problems for the past few weeks. Any ideas on what to do?

Sounds like you may have a router problem, if there is no router, then you have an Xbox problem, or it just may be a loose connection between the seat and the keyboard, if you know what I mean.
I'm curios as to what kind of legal action you can take against a "for entertainment purposes only" type of service company.
if you have a router, you may want to try and bypass it to see if that may be causing the issue. If not, you may want to contact Micro$oft. :)

Yea tested the xbox it works fine connects to xbox live, and I connect directly through a modem. Microsoft has no idea what to tell me about it, and I have a list of "issues with connections" that I've collected over the 5 years of having adelphia, every years twice a year almost something goes wrong to where I have to call them out so they can adjust a few things and I pay them to just have another problem in 6 months someone with a little bit of common sense can see a scam out of their business.

I hear ya, I am not looking forward to them cutting ours back! I don't think the 8000 down is available here yet, that may be why they still have us with legacy Adelphia IP's and Config files. They have migrated everything over EXCEPT our physical network, I'm not sure why they haven't switched the actual, physical network yet, maybe they're waiting on connections to their North Bay Network (which is what we're a part of now, they peer to SF, 115 miles south of us).
Currently, we still go via the legacy Adelphia connection to the backbone in L.A., which is owned by RR now, the local CMTS in Ukiah is now owned by Comcast of course, but once it leaves Ukiah for L.A. it's RR's network now.
Edit-It will be nice to have some local peering, here's a traceroute to the Mendocino Community College in Ukiah, 8 miles south of me. We go over 500 miles south to L.A. to get to the backbone, then back another 500 miles to SF, then 115 miles to Ukiah-

I hear ya, I am not looking forward to them cutting ours back! I don't think the 8000 down is available here yet, that may be why they still have us with legacy Adelphia IP's and Config files. They have migrated everything over but our physical network, I'm not sure why they haven't switched the actual, physical network yet, maybe they're waiting on connections to their North Bay Network (which is what we're a part of now, they peer to SF, 115 miles south of us).
Currently, we still go via the legacy Adelphia connection to the backbone in L.A., which is owned by RR now, the local CMTS in Ukiah is now owned by Comcast of course, but once it leaves Ukiah for L.A. it's RR's network now.
From what I was told we'll get the option of 8/768 sometime in April.. One thing that was good for non-premiere customers is that 6/368 is now available everywhere. As for us premiere customers we have top wait to get our upload back.. Even when we get it we still lost upload speed. I download at 6.05 Mbps from newsgroups when I used to download at 6.8.. My upload was about 880Kbps and at best it'll be just under 768Kbps when they get around to it. I'm bummed, I want FiOS. :(
As an update to this thread the second e-mail (transition complete) just went out.

You've got it better than I do Mike  Other comp on this router might be causing some slowness, but ugh.

Not by much I don't ;) I think they must be doing some tweaking of the network right now, I hope that's what it is anyway.

I'm a little irked at the loss of my Adelphia newsgroups. 2 GB/month sucks balls comcast.

Re: Who got a transition e-mail last night?
I never even used newsgroups on Adelphia, but I miss the 768 upload. We are getting the 8000/768 tier soon, and PowerBoost should already be here, but as far as I can tell isn't.
I'm pretty excited to have real local routing now, we go to Windsor to get to the net instead of L.A., much closer ;)
Edit-Did you get your email and account migrated over alright? We've not got Comcast email and access to the online account manager, as well as all the other goodies :)

Cool, I did our email Satuday night, and also registered for our online account management. Monday night around Midnight is when we were switched over to the Comcast network.

Man...In August, word of a switch form Adelphia to TW (RR) hit...I immediatly called TW and asked what the plans would be. The lady said "I don't have that information...we'll let you know in a few months". I said "So wait, I'm going to continue paying $60 a month for 6mb service, and you can't tell me if my price will go up or down, or if I'll get a speed increase?"..."NO"...
Angrily, I typed my name into the VZ Fios webpage...To my shock (though not too shocking since I had seen fiber being layed a month before) Fios was available...I ordered it and called back TW...
I was thinking "Ok, they will try to get me to stay by promising me fasters speeds or better rates"...
CS REP : Thank you for calling Time Warner how can I help you
ME : I want to cancel my service
CS REP : OK...One moment....OK so you want to discontinue service?
ME : Yes...
CS REP : OK...no problem...
ME (Getting Desperate for her to TRY to save my business) : Well, I'm going to Verizon...3x the speed at $10 less a month
CS REP : OK...your service has been terminated. Is there anything else I can do for you today?
ME : I guess not...
Not ONCE did they try to save my business...If I had acted that way at work, I would be strung up! The cable comanie's (especially TW) arrogance amazes me...Now I'm a happy 15/2 VZ customer and am switching to thier TV today as well...

So what did you want her to do?
Depending when you called and at what position the migration was, the chances that the new speed plans and retention offers were in limbo.
and no you cant edit as anon.

Austin: No

Goldmember: Bong und a blintz?
Austin and Nigel: No.

Well no transition EMail here, it just switched along with everyone else in the NEO area, one thing, for those that call in their payments using the automated payment system, have fun ... You will be ready to shoot someone when you final manage to make your payment, I am not "blaming" anyone, it is probably just a glitch that will be fixed come next month, the rep I spoke with was very apologetic about it, he was having "fun" too.
