Nope but if we complain to them enough times then they might start to consider it. They do want it to be just as good if not better than Passport.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

Found another diagnostic screen/installer app. Won't say how I found it but it's only for TWC techs. Unless you work for them then it's probably useful. I did find 2 channels listed in the 1200's which is what our division uses as test channels.

rv65 @ 9th Nov 03:45AM:
Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

As far as the installer app does I'll leave that up to my imagination. I'm sure the techs know what it does but I think that information is classified and could probably cost them their job.

More Crapigator madness. Apparently, TWC pushed out an update in the wee morning hours today (November 11). After the update, all of the recordings I had made since the initial Navigator deployment were wiped away clean. This happened even though every single recording had the white cross with green circle to indicate recording should never be erased.

More Navigator bugs. Horrible. I guess everytime there's an update to Crapigator, TWC feels okay just to flush all your recordings. Amazing.

I noticed this morning that there was some kind of interruption around 1am last night. I had recorded STNG and it was split into two recording. So if it was an update I sure hope it will speed up the thing.

Didn't speed anything up for me. But it did delete all of my recordings. Thanks TWC.

Most of the time Navigator won't delete your recordings. I guess you were unlucky.

I hope Keyword search gets added in the next update or a bastardized version of it. Keyword search is really just an extension of the keyboard search. You would still use the keyboard to enter in letters but it can now search for keywords. San Diego and the Carolinas will be the first to get it then the other divisions. I'm sure TWC San Diego is testing a new version and hope to get it out by the end of this year.

Not sure I even want the upgrade after reading all the stuff in here.

You can't stop the upgrade. They'll upgrade the box early in the morning. It's not that bad but I think you'll get used to it.

Once you get the upgrade fill out the feedback forum on the local website so that they can make it a better product. The feedback will likely get sent to corporate engineering.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

I sent a direct message to AlexTWC on twitter about Navigator getting keyword search, manual recording, and copy to VCR and he agrees that it should be in there. He also said it will be in the next gen of Navigator which could be the next branch. Once TWC adds all their wanted features and iron out the bugs Navigator will be a pretty nice guide. Keyword search is probably just going to be an extension of the Keyboard search. The Sports section will also have the Keyboard search. TWC is getting there so stay tuned.

I think it was wrong of TWC to roll out this product without it being further in development. This product clearly was not tested or developed enough before rolling out. These features should not be missing and these bugs should not be present.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

I've seen worse from Navigator. It's been in development for quite some time yet they always seem to have bugs. Next year will be a busy tear and they'll bring back features that even Passport had. Some TWC divisions had Passport instead of SARA. Mine was a ex Passport division and that software was nice but then they launched Navigator. My 8300HDC is tolerable and so is my SMT-H3270.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

ODN was in development since 2005. So was MDN.

Next year will get better I promise. My division gets rollsout new versions before anybody else so we get the all the improvements. They've got plans for it and it will get better. ODN will be more capable than MDN since ODN boxes are newer.

Your feedback is probably going to go to Corporate engineering so that would be great. I suppose they'll use a similar form for the other SARA divisions that move to Navigator as Navigator is much different than SARA.

TWC, I am NOT satisfied. Please read my posts in this particular topic, and then please include those requests in your next update.

Before the end of this year, thank you very much.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

Such as life in SoCal. Your division needs people like Bob Barlow who actually respond to feedback. I once sent in some bugs that both of my Samsung HD-STB's currently have and I got an engineering person. AlexTWC from Twitter agrees that Navigator will get better but it's up to the division to properly test and release the updates. San Diego I think is a test market for new updates since we get them first. The Carolinas are also test markets. I think your on MDN v2.4.4-16 while San Diego has v2.4.6-19. MDN v2.5 is in Beta while v3.0 is in development. ODN is already at v3.1.3_2 while SoCal is at v3.1.1_3. Even NYC has updated their ODN and MDN versions.

I'm sure your features are being added some day.

One advantage of ODN is that I have a Samsung DVR with a 320 GB HDD.

I just want to known when I will have this horrible Motorola DCH3416 off my hands here in Los Angeles/Culver City. Had the box with comcast up in NorCal and it was slow enough then, but the box with TWC iis just gawd-awful. Constantly freezes up when I do remote commands (it will eventually catch up, within seconds, maybe a couple minutes). And most friends I know who have the same box around here have the same issues.

I miss my satellite. Time to try to convince my landlord again.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

SARA users are generally more impressed with Navigator while Passport users are generally more disappointed. Passport is at a much higher standard than SARA so yeah. Then again I've seen SARA users not like Navigator. It's all a matter of personal preference. I would much rather have TWC continue to keep paying Aptiv and ditched SARA for Passport as it can work on both Motorola and SA networks. If TWC had kept Passport it would've been much better.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

My SA 3250HD used to do that but my Samsung box doesn't do that. Of course it likes to say Please wait when it feels like it. Same with the VOD. It won't show the VOD preview but Please wait. If you watch a VOD title it will show the Please wait on the upper right hand corner of the screen. The only work around is to change it to a non VOD channel then go back to your desired VOD channel. The 3260 is supposed to do this but not all the time. My engineering contact says it does it when there are changes in the network and it needs to update it's VOD service group. Other customers have complained about this and are working on a patch or a firmware update.

No guide update but a firmware update for all 32xx boxes. The 3260 uses the same firmware as the 3270. The 3270 is the DVR version of the 3260 and has a 320 GB HDD. There isn't a 160 GB 3270 just a 320 GB HDD but there is no PIP due to a hardware limitation in the BCM7405 CPU.

Not to mention the Samsung boxes that our divison has deployed all run Linux.

Re: [TWC] Time Warner Navigator

Here is the Open Source Software that the 3270 uses. The 3260 uses most but not all.

GPL Software
Linux Kernel
BusyBox
xfsprogs

LGPL Software
libuClibc.so
ld.so
libc.so
libm.so
libpthread.so
libgcc_s.so
libstdc++.so
dhcpcd
tftpd
fdisk - Probably applies to the 3270 but is probably on the 3260 since they both share the same FW.

Of course Samsung can use Proprietary components as well. Stuff like the OCAP/tru2way middleware and the Cable stuff are probably all proprietary components.
