[TW] Earthlink cable: Any faster than RR/TW?

I'm currently on road runner, and during peak hours my speeds drop to around 2000kbit (on 15000/2000 tier). I'm interested in switching over to Earthlink cable if it'll help avoid the peak hour congestion.

Can anyone confirm/deny that Earthlink cable will show an improvement in reliability (i.e., will it stay near 10mbit throughout the day)?

It won't affect speeds one iota, you're using the same node. I have EL and it's exactly the same as my neighbor's RR (they have open wifi so I occasionally do a speed comparison). It is cheaper though, I think I'm on $29.99 for 12 months.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks though. I guess I'll have to wait until FIOS comes to my corner of the world. Curse you oversatured nodes!

I find the 2 quite different. RR was always the same speed for me day/eve/night, very solid.
Earthlink (same 7Mb service level) is not choppy but gradually varies between 8Mb to 5.5 Mb with the low speeds bt 4:30 - 8pm.
Speaking to the TW cable folks, the HFC has up to 500 users but has capacity to handle much more, that it's unlikely the pipe would fill even with heavy usage by the 500.

The bottleneck occurs at the server assigned to your WAN IP.

not an expert -just what I heard.
