[TW] Hudson Valley NY, speed difference same as RR?
im looking to get internet access from Earthlink for the free usenet. However on the Earthlink site (under my zip) it has standard 7.0Mbps for $29.95 and premium 10Mbps for $72.95. However i know for a fact that in this area Roadrunner standard is 10Mbps and Turbo is 15Mbps. I was under the impression that the Earthlink speed is the same as RR since the line comes from RR? If i sign up for Earthlink standard will i get the RR standard speed? Or will i get the website speed of 7Mbps. Looking for a clear answer from someone who has Earthlink in this area. Thank you

I get nearly 10Mbps here on my earthlink via RR line here in Queens. It tops out around 9Mbps, and can run much lower during the evening as the congestion here is pretty bad. But off-hours, I get 1100 kB/s downloads, which correlates to ~9Mbps.

I can now confirm that Earthlink standard is the same as RR standard with some slight differences. There is no powerboost w/ Earthlink. Its not noticeable at all when downloading from Usenet but you do notice it when downloading a 30mb software file from Snapfiles or Cnet. Those small files would come in super quick w/powerboost. Also my download speed with RR would top out at 1200KB/s while Earthlink tops out at between 1150 and 1180KB/s. don't know why its slightly slower, but it is. That's basically all i notice.
