SMC7004ABR Throughput speed problem
I have a SMC7004ABR Router, P/N 750.5432, Firmware 1.14, Boot Code 1.10.
This unit has always functioned well. Recently my ISP increased my broadband speed from 6 Mbps to 10 Mbps. However the throughput speed of my router did not change. Bypassing the router gives me the correct 10 Mbps, so the limitation is in the router.
SMC specs/manual list the WAN speed as 10 Mbps.
Speedtests cap it at about 5.7Mbps, is there anything that can be done to increase the speed throughput of this older router? the last firmware is the above listed and that has a 2005 date to it. thanks for any help......cheers

Re: SMC7004ABR Throughput speed problem
I doubt anything can be done, unless there is any updated patch or firmware for it. At the given specs of 2005, I would be delighted if I get anything over 5 Mbps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I would think that if the SMC specs are 10 Mbps that a throughput of half that would be less then exceptable. SMC should have written those specs on toilet paper. :uhh:
