Slow speeds with Pro

I'm located in Guilford, CT (posting from work) and recently ordered the Pro service which was turned up yesterday. I currently have a single PC with Windows XP connected directly to the Motorola CPE. Numerous speed tests have yielded nothing higher than 1700. I tried downloading a number of files and I'm lucky to see 200 kb/sec. I've disabled all antivirus programs, powercycled the CPE, rebooted my PC, all to no avail. I dont know of my exact distance to the CO but I have a feeling that's not an issue, though I could be wrong. My landlord at my old apartment in North Guilford had the Elite service and I saw 500 kb/sec download speeds consistently, so I know it's nothing wrong with my PC. Any ideas?

call them to look at your profile, or, if you can wait a few days, IM me the tel# and I'll check it next Monday.. I'm kinda out of town this week...

Re: Slow speeds with Pro

I've been having issues with intermittent connectivity fairly recently while my speed was testing around 2600 down. I was getting about 10-15% packet loss to 4.2.2.2 and AT&T's DNS servers but no packet loss to my router ethernet interface. I called AT&T tech support and the agent went through the usual basics, including making sure my modem was more than a few feet from my router, claiming that would cause interference? Anyway, I was given a reference number and was told I'd get a call back which never happened, however the next day the connection was much more stable, no packet loss but it looks like my speed has been bumped down a bit for stability and is now testing around 2100 to 2200. My question is, would it be worth upgrading to Elite? By doing so, would my service be placed on a VDSL circuit or would it ride on the same circuit I'm using now for Pro?

Elite would 'ride the same circuit' as Pro. Depending on what your DSL stats look like, you might or might not be able to get Elite.

VDSL is U-Verse, I believe.

Have a look at lines 140 thru 148 of the technicians readout page it will tell you what you want to know
