Sports Channel Changes in Baltimore on 7/30/09

On 7/30 in Baltimore, Comcast is moving NBATV and NHL Network to Digital Classic. NFL and NFL HD move to Digital Starter. ESPN Classic moves to Sports and Entertainment.

seems to be the newest Comcast trend. i think we have the same thing in NJ happening, and ESPNU may be coming sometime this year in the sports pack.

it either changes on the July 30 or August 11 along the north east of the Country, it will be effective everywhere before the End of August for sure!! it is a Nationwide Change it just a matter of Timing!! since Comcast like everything the same channel at the same level so that the Main Center keeps all the Security codes in check!!!

What's different about Maryland and Virginia that they will get NFL network on Digital Starter when most other palaces will get it on Digital Classic?

Re: Sports Channel Changes in Baltimore on 7/30/09

Yeah they are doing this all over the place. But johnjefferson, they don't like everything on the same channel. It's large regions, like Mid-Atlantic is different from New England, which is different from Northwestern, etc... These channel lineup groupings spill past the normal management area's (Central PA, Freedom Region, etc...) but for some reason there's still no national consistancy. Some people have HD Channels in the 200's, some in the 700's or 800's, and some have music choice in the 400's, while others in the 900's. Some have the first digital tier in the 100's and some in the 400's.

Hopefully when they are all digital, they can develop a national map and distribute it out, so no matter where you are from California to New Jersey, you'll know what channel is what (sans locals & pegs of course) as long as it's in a Comcast area.

Our sports channels were moved to the 700s this year away from the HD channels in the 200s.

Also I got an email that ESPN360 would be available on 8/4.

And I've been told that our digital migration will happen by the end of the summer. (I hope they don't mean September 21.)

I had to go to the office to pick up a remote and I saw a sign that DTA's would be available on June 24. I'm guessing that this is a prelude to the digital migration. Fits with what you heard.

NFL Network/HD is now on Digital Starter. No change with the other channels yet.

Also there is a blank channel at 730. Could be ESPNU.

I'm in Philly burbs and have the sports pack without digital classic. I'm still getting NHL, NBA and NFL networks. I just noticed I'm getting MLB Network. I thought that was a Digital Classic channel. ESPNU is on the guide but isn't coming in.

In some areas aren't they putting it on both levels so a person can get it sort of ala-carte.You can have the basic level and get the sports and entertainment package and get the most wanted sports channels,if you want to pay more for sports.

I got a message this morning that it was available now as a preview but I can't see it. And there is no channel label or programming listed. I also can't watch NBA TV or NHL Network. And I still get ESPN Classic. The only change so far is I can watch NFL Network. Sometimes it takes a while for changes to kick in around here.

Customer service doesn't now shit about the messages that were sent. They say these channels will be moved "before the season starts". Only NFL Network has been moved. This is the most incompetent company I've ever dealt with!

They haven't added extra Channels of them here in Olathe and we don't need 3 channels of NBATV one is enoth 749 and 273 is just there intill a HD channel goes there. Also 180 and 275 are being held by NFL Network at the moment intill a HD Channel is added there. So is 185 Oxygen and 189 Pin.

I can access NBA TV and NHL Network On Demand programs but not the linear channels. According to Comcast chat they should be available "by the end of the week". But they also said ESPNU would be viewable in 24-72 hours. That was on Monday.

Re: Sports Channel Changes in Baltimore on 7/30/09

Just happened upon this forum today. Interesting to see that Comcast was supposed to add those channels per there alert back in July. As of today 10/19/09, all have been added to my Digital Classic Service except NBATV. I contacted Comcast back in Sept and they didn't have an answer at the time. Has anyone living in Baltimore County actual gotten the NBA TV channel added to their Digital Classic Service and when can I expect it? Customer service is a real joke!

NHL, NBA TV, and ESPNU are still only on the sports pack in Baltimore City. CBS College Sports HD is on the sports pack, while the SD channel is on Digital Classic.

Guess I need to send them copies of their own press releases.

Re: Sports Channel Changes in Baltimore on 7/30/09

Well after a few emails and telephone calls to Comcast, happy to report that they finally activated NBA TV yesterday. It is apparent that Comcast has some issues with getting their policies out to those who need to know it the most. Every one I talked to kept telling me that the NBA TV channel was not part of the Digital Classic lineup, and that I would have to subscribe to a sport package to get it, even after I directed them to their own web page saying different and that my downloaded "My Channel Lineup" shows that it is part of the digital classic lineup. Well to make a long and irritating story short, every thing is okay now. I want to thank Angie and Kim, of Comcast, for their assistance in getting this matter resolved. I'm a very happy subscriber now :-)

Hope you get good results. Persistence does pay off.
