Dont think so, even the guys at Nettalk said they didnt care if you had 1 or 100 TK6000's on your network, and they all could be calling out at the same time.
Here's what I'm getting at:

I saw NetTalk's forum posting saying they sell multiple dongles (for one phone number) to allow multiple and simultaneous usage. Each dongle costs money and would serve as proof of purchase for the simultaneous usage.

But, it sounds like they let you buy one dongle, get your SIP credentials, and then use those credentials on multiple softphones and ATA devices?

That's a little different. Multiple, simultaneous uses without the revenue from selling multiple dongles (service contracts)?

I wonder if they really anticipated people using SIP credentials like this? Are we about to witness another MagicJack episode? :)

I too am feed up with there service and explinations. I have yet to have a ticket answered since 8-10-09-and since that date with great persistance i have called tech support and have ask them the same question "when will Voice/email be up" the answer is always "buy the end of the week" It would be nice if there were honest and just said we don't know for sure we are still working on the software or something that make sense. Mine dials out most of the time but rarely does it ever ring or go thru when I call my own number from my home phone or cell phone.-very disapoonting product!

Re: netTalk tk6000

Phone service over the internet ain't as easy as it looks.

VOIPo took a long time in beta but even after that they had major glitches.

Vonage has a huge technical staff and has been doing it for years.

The CallCentric guys live and breathe this stuff. I don't even think they get to go out on dates.

A mature service like ViaTalk still has its issues and still seems to recast its technology all the time.

So I am not surprised about the TK-6000.

Hopefully the TK-7400 will be an upspiff. That's a joke, folks.

Has anyone used this service »https://www.tk6000.com
I came across this post while trouble shooting my newly bought tk6000. I had problems setting it up at work, but when I brought it home and plugged it into my home router, it worked perfectly. The sound quality was perfect. I think even better than magic jack simply because the tk6000 was not plugged into my computer so it was not competing for resources. Before now I was using the magic jack for about a year. I decided that I had to try the tk6000 because I had gotten pretty annoyed with MJ's interface popping up. Even with the program "magichide" there would still be a pop up caller id tab. This was unnecessary because my phone has caller id, and this caller id tab would pop up on top and kick whatever I was doing to the back. I think the tk6000 definitively resolved that problem. Though I highly recommend it, the tk6000 has two flaws that I didn't like. First, the initial setup (both the website login and the unit) needed more explaining. The website login is only required for inputting your address, but there are multiple tabs on the site that do not have explanations and do not pertain to the average user like myself. They are just unnecessary and confusing. Then there is the setup of the unit. It's suppose to be just plug n play. It didn't workout that way on my router at work. The problem is that once you've encountered a problem, there isn't a built in configuration emulator to try to trouble shoot your problem. Tech support was available by phone but was unable to fix the problem. My problem was then passed along to another part of tech support who took 3 days to reply. This other tech support then gave me three things to try, one of which was to try to connect it to a router on a different network, which seemed to work great. Now the second flaw that I didn't like too much about my new tk6000. The number assigned to my unit is in another city. Not a big deal, but requires a little explaining when I give this phone number out to friends and family. Overall I really like the tk6000, sound quality is great, call logs are online and can be printed. Most importantly, there are no annoying pop ups

So is there anything new on the TK-6000 service?

Have not heard anything lately.

They are still advertising "lifetime" for about $ 110 including the shipping.

Anybody new try it out?

Re: netTalk tk6000

I have been using this product now for more than two weeks. It's basically plug and play for me. Easy setup. Worked behind a Comcast business gateway (SMC) and a Smoothwall server. I will write a detailed review when I have some more time. The experience will change as the company continues to work on issues reported by customers (sort of a betta users) like me.

FYI: The device and service (lifetime as of this post) will ship for a few cents less than $100 if you make a one time payment (free shipping) instead of making 4 payments (no free shipping). It can take up to two weeks to receive the item from order to delivery.

They are still working out some issues, like getting more phone numbers (you can change/switch number several times for free at this time) and speeding up their shipping system. Overall, I am happy using this device and service without the need to have my computer on all the time. Check out Nettalk's forum if you want to see how other customers are experiencing.

Re: netTalk tk6000

I had netTALK for a couple of months. Some issues early on that were resolved fairly quickly. Since then, very reliable incoming and outgoing phone calls.

I had my cell phone stolen at work and right now I'm pretty much using the netTALK phone as my only phone and it's working perfectly.

I don't use any email/voicemail so I haven't a clue how that's working.

Only 2 major annoyances for me:

1. 11 digit dialing is required
2. No phone numbers in my local area code. Got a phone number in an area code about 50 miles from my home (SF Bay Area area code)

Otherwise, it's about the same as a MJ in terms of quality and reliability.

Re: netTalk tk6000

I don't know yet if it was foolish, but I had ordered one.
Even though I don't usually but extended warranties, I went ahead and paid $19.95 for a 5 year warranty. The promotion on the website was "lifetime service". if it is the lifetime of the device, then that is what the extra 4 dollars a year should cover.
Just like a previous poster that ordered one, but had not yet received it, if it does not preform with decent sound quality, and in a reliable manner, it goes back.
However, I am willing to give it a try. Hopefully, it will work reliably enough, and I will simply let my MJ service expire in December. I will use Google Voice for voicemail, etc.

Re: netTalk tk6000

@prestonlewis
1) The 11 digit dialing is something I will have to get used to in the Chicago coming this week besides the Nettalk device. T-mobile sent me a notice that starting this week, the Chicago area will have another area code added to the existing 773 and 312 area codes. I will have to dial 1+area code+7digit even on my cellphone now. Like any change, its uncomfortable at the beginning. It's a minor inconvenience, but I am used to it now.

Although, I hope they can come up with a solution to show or add the "1" to the 10digit INCOMING numbers on the callerID so that I can save and call back without having to add the "1" to my phonebook.

2) I wish they work something out with the respected companies to get more numbers. I was lucky (and surprised that they have it so soon after I requested it) to grab the only 408 area code number last week!

PS: Some people reported that Nettalk is starting to show advertisements on TV now. I welcome competition to this market, as it forces others like MagicJack to keep on innovation and improve services to the user. I can't wait to see this product in retail stores.

Re: netTalk tk6000

I have used this for almost 2 months.

I did need assistance to get incoming calls set up at first.
I got the only 310 area code number available at the time.

The service hardly ever goes down and is quite reliable. There is however a major problem for me. During a call there are periods of 2-5 seconds when the incoming and outgoing voices get garbled. This happens randonly about every 10 minutes. It does not cut the line, but it does cause problems with the wife acceptance factor.

Other than that, it is great with very good sound quality - equal to a landline. I like the service and hope they fix this garble/stutter issue.

Also, I have not tried using any of the special features, only outgoing and some incoming.

Re: netTalk tk6000 - acceptable

I have used my newly purchased TK6000 for continuously 3 days. I plugged to my second router (modem - router/voip adapter - router - TK6000). I didn't configure anything as I don't know how. It's working fine. unlike my another voip phone (paying monthly fee) which is connected to the modem directly, I can hear a little bit of background noise if listening carefully. The voice got garbled for one or two seconds for every 5 or 10 minutes, but not for every call. Overall the sound quality is acceptable if it's not crystal clear. I just hope, they would have a manual for coaching an average person like to understand and set up this device conveniently.

By the way, the sound quality of the international call seems even better than the domestic call.

Pro: netTALK is about 1/3 the price of Ooma
No other pros I can think of.

Con: Ooma reportedly has much better call quality and reliability.

netTALK is pretty much only viewed as an alternative to MagicJack.

Comparing netTALK with Ooma just hasn't seemed to be a logical thing to do. Ooma apparently has much better quality/reliability but it's price has always been difficult to overcome. After Sunrocket, no one trusts lifetime service from a VOIP provider.

Re: netTalk tk6000

I have had mine for 3 days now, and it is failing my tests so far. The signal is too choppy. For those who think my internet is at fault, my Future Nine calls just after the TK6000 calls are much "smother".
The choppiness seems as if they are trying to compress the signal for narrow bandwidth, with an internal processor that is too slow.
Lifetime service is one thing, but too many chops in the voice can lead to an early death.
It would be nice if I could use my own ATA device to test the New Talk service, independent of my purchased TK6000 device.

I admit that the sound coming in is OK. but I called my cell phone to check the outgoing voice, and that is where the failure lies. Especially compared to my other VOIP on the same router.

I will give it 3 more days to clear up (presumably after an update).

To the best of my knowledge, netTALK is not supporting anything like an iPhone app. The info on the box is for logging into your web account at netTALK, not for anything to do anywhere else.

netTALK is not supporting BYOD either.

However, they have been known to let people bend the rules from time to time. Go over to the forums and IM or email Nick and ask him if he'll let you use the iPhone app with their service. Nick or other netTALK people might be interested in it.

From what I could gather, netTalk will face the same challenge MagicJack did. They apparently use possession of the dongle as proof of ownership. If they let people use their SIP credentials, they won't have any way to determine whether someone's sharing their service, or if they returned it to a retailer for a refund (if NT begins selling retail).

It sounded like they were a little more exposed to this problem than MagicJack. From what I read on the NT forum, you could connect multiple SIP devices (or, NT devices) and incoming calls would ring everywhere. You could place a call from any of them. I don't recall ever hearing that MJ operated like that.

They may not realize the potential problem until they begin selling retail. I think that's when MJ realized it.

I think the problem is that both NT and MJ sell time by the year. If you have a monthly subscription, it's easy to know when a customer stops paying. But, when the customer pays the full price for a year at a retail store, and can return the product for a full refund, you have no idea they discontinued service.

This is way better than Majic Jack because Majic Jack you must have a computer to login to. NET TALK doesn't need the computer. It is a great deal and works awesome. The deal right now is so good because they are trying to get it out there! I totally recommend it! Can't go wrong on the deal! I got mine on www.tk6000.com.
