Vonage and Google Voice?

Has anyone been able to configure Vonage to be able to take advantage of the wonderful call screening that Google Voice has? Since it appears that Vonage has stagnated in the useful features zone. Currently, I am using Phone Tray Free to screen my calls but it requires me to keep my computer on 24/7 and only works about 75% of the time. Thanks.

Only way your going to take advantage of google voice is to have people call your google number... No other way that I am aware of, or that I have heard of that is in the works...

My goal is as soon as google allows it I want to transfer my vonage number to google but don't want to cancel my vonage line so I would need a new number from vonage...

Yeah, that would be cool if I could swap my Vonage number for my Google number. Or if Vonage would get off it's ares and offer these features.

Can't you use call forwarding in your Vonage account to instantly transfer the call to your GV number?

That's what I did when switching out, I had the 500 minute plan, and found that I was NOT "charged" for those forwarded calls.

It works once and then loops (I think). Also, I tried turning off Call Waiting.

Re: Vonage and Google Voice?

I just got rid of my vonage ATA and replaced it with a Grandstream phone connected to Google Voice.

Instructions here:

No more monthly fees, free incoming and outgoing calls unless I call Alaska/Hawaii/International and it includes SMS.

The only drawback is you can't dial outgoing calls form the phone itself but the phone is right next to my computer so I just dial from the google voice interface, which is nicer anyway since I can just type in the contact's name to dial.

I forward my Vonage calls instantly to GV, and it works every time. Mind you my vonage phone number is NOT listed in my GV phone settings, but my home (FIOS) phone, cell phone, and office phone are. Vonage voicemail is disabled. Once GV allows in-porting numbers, it might be so long Vonage unless they can make me an offer I can't refuse.

Re: Vonage and Google Voice?

Has anyone tried using SimulRing with GV and Vonage? Whenever I try it, the Vonage phone rings once and then it's like the GV number takes over the call. I'd like to have the Vonage phone and the numbers behind the GV number to all ring at the same time, so I don't have to go through the trouble of telling everyone a different number to call me on. Any thoughts?

Re: Vonage and Google Voice?

When calling GV GV immediately picks up the call and plays the ringing as a sound - hence if you use Vongae Simulring it won't work...

Re: Vonage and Google Voice?

This would all be pointless if Vonage would offer the same features as GV. Hmmm, I wonder how that would effect churn?

Darn. I thought that, but was hoping there might be a work-around by now. Thanks for the info though.
