Motorola Surfboard 4200
hello guys,
i am switching back to WOW since they lowered their price recently! :D yay! ordered 8mbps and cable tv. hope they don't cut the speed down or something since they lowerd their price.
i have couple qustions, i know like 3 years ago WOW didn't support motorola surfboard 4200 docis 1.1 or something like that so i couldn't get full 6mbps speed on 4200. is that the still a problem? or did they manage to update 4200 firmware to docis 2.0?
do WOW still give out crappy webstar modem?
i need some update!

For full speeds you will need to use a WOW provided modem.
What makes you think there is something wrong with the Webstar modems?

The 4200 is a DOCSIS 1.1 modem only. It's not DOCSIS 2 compatible.
WOW only supports up to speeds with their modems. And yes, they provide the the Webstar modems, which IMO, are better than the Moto modems.

i didn't say there is something wrong with the webstar modems.
you can still get full speed without using provided modem, which means u can use ur own modem like me and get full speed as long as they provide config file for the modem you have.

I worked with WOW a while ago trying to get my 4200 to get full speeds with them and never got it to work. I would only get a very unreliable 6Mbps out of 8Mbps on mine. So I'd hate to see what it'll do with my 15Mbps tier. WOW doesn't support your own modem, so they don't promise anything with it. IMO, there isn't a point to keep such an old, outdated modem for now.
