VPN Tunneling versus Virus/Malware Protection?
I am a NOOB at VPNs....so please feel free to aks me again on what I am trying to ask here....
I have a client PC at home which I use VPN tunneling to secure all my transactions between the corporate network and my home network. Both of these networks have a Linksys VPN routers.
Without going into too many details, I just want to know the following info from the question below:
Would this VPN connection (or any type of VPN connection)also prevent viruses and malware from getting onto my corporate or home network or, would it just protect against "eavesdropping" or someone "intercepting" all my data to or from these networks???
So in other words, would VPNs and SSL connections would also protect me from viruses and malware from getting onto my networks?
So even one would have a secure VPN/SSL connection from a client PC to a VPN Cluster server.....can a malware still sneak into the network? Or...would it only protect it from somone sniffing or intercepting data traffic???
Please explain.
Thanks.

Re: VPN Tunneling versus Virus/Malware Protection?
If the VPN prevents simultaneous access to the VPN and the local network/internet, then you cannot be a tunnel into the corporate LAN, but you can still infect the corporate LAN with viruses you already have.
If the VPN allows simultaneous access to the VPN and the local network/internet, you can not only infect the corporate LAN with viruses, you can be a tunnel to see into the corporate LAN from the internet.
Use VPNs with restraint, don't let family members use VPNed computers, as an example.
