Can a westell 327w be an ad-hoc connection?
Can a westell 327w be an ad-hoc connection? Or is it only Infrastructure?
If so how do you tell the 327w is set to this mode?
I have looked through the configures pages but do not see anything about this.
I have a HP h5455 and if I set the connection to Ad-Hoc my siganl strength is 100% but if I change it to Infrastructure the signal drops to 10-50 percent. This drop in signal strength leads me to believe it is my neighbor signal I am picking up.
What information my you need to help me?

As far as I know, it can only be used as an intrastructure AP.

When you move the computer to somewhere else, do you still see the same ad hoc network at 100%? If you do, then you are probably just picking up your own signal, and the 100% is meaningless.
You might try changing the 327w to a different channel to see if that helps.
I get 50-60% on my laptop, connecting to my 327w. And the connection is reliable. The laptop is in the adjacent room. Moving it around the house, I still get reasonable signal strength, though I have not tried to make a record of what the strength is. And note that I am not currently using the 327w. If you re not getting a good signal from the 327w, one possibility is a poor antenna at the receiving adapter.

I consistently get 60 to 65% signal strength to my 327W with my desktop for 2 floors above.
