Hey ya'll, it's been a while since I posted on here so just checkin in on my former Suddenlink brothers and sisters to see what's new and going on with ya and if your Suddenlink speeds have improved any. I'm so glad I left them a while ago and went to Embarq....couldn't be any happier!

I would switch to Embarq in a heartbeat if they offered more than 3 Mbps to my house...come on, now!

I don't know if it's because I'm too far from the CO or what...

Suddenlink was good for the first few months that I had it...then, school started back up. It was absolutely horrible during the football game yesterday. Ooh...ESPN360.com sponsored by Suddenlink! It's the way to view games! NOT!

I was downloading something, and I watched the speeds go from about 50KB/sec during the game to about 300-500KB/sec during halftime/commercials. The sad thing is...I pay for 12 Mbps (mainly for the extra upload), so I should at least be getting 1 MB/sec (theoretically, 1.5 MB/sec) download speeds. I never get anywhere close to that.

I miss Time Warner so much!

That is a really stable connection. If only Centurytel/Embarq provided DSL dry loop :(

5 mb down? Did someone bump up a 5 year old post? I guess my speed with Suddenlink is holding up pretty well

Seriously though I understand how it feels to have received subpar service--I stayed away from Suddenlink for a few years because of the crappy service I had with Charter. In my area Suddenlink has really stepped up. Your pings are awesome though!

Hey svjks, Embarq does offer dry loop. Are you meaning dry loop as in naked dsl cause yeah that do have that and that is what I have... Also, check out this link I have provided, it has some info about some faster download and upload speeds that are heading our way. »Centrytel/Centurylink has higher speeds

Yeah def.... that's what I have. I have no use and need for a house phone being that I have a cell phone and can call long distance anywhere in the U.S. for free, you know what I mean.

No, i didn't have the time to call and talk to embarq. One of these days i should be doing that.
Right now, i have a special discounted cable and internet package from Suddenlink. I have come to live with the slow internet speeds between 5pm and midnight.
