Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Haha, I forgot I had a bittorrent download going (and it was uploading quite a bit). Closed that and re-ran the speedtest:
There's my 2Mbps :)

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Powerboost is non existent as far as I'm concern. I don't see anything until after 10pm at night, big deal most people are heading toward bed by that time.
Any time I have run it I might get anywhere for 2Mb - 5Mb more than my 20Mb service. I've seen many other tests posted that are much higher in speeds.

Eh... anything helps doesn't it?
Though I'd gladly trade my power boost for the rest of my friggin upload speed...
My connection is stable enough to support 35 MBPS downstream... GREAT! Now why the hell can't I get my other .15 upstream exactly? o.O

I suppose I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth but what irritates me is that Powerboost is only evident with me in the non-prime time hours. My speed tests are in the mid-15's during prime time lately and Charter just did a new drop at my home about 2 months ago. Can't figure that out. I've seen my others posts tests the appear to be significant improvements during prime time hours.

Hmm... if you're in a big neighborhood they're probably trying to serve too many people.
Even if they did do a new drop, if they're trying to have too many people on one node, powerboost couldn't possible help you much. Especially if you have alot of downloaders/torrenters in your area.
my powerboost is kinda unsteady... it ranges from adding 10-25 additional MBPS. During peak hours, it's usually 10-15 MBPS, which is a sizeable loss but, obviously it's still got enough oomph to be a big help occasionally.
I'd tell you to call charter but... all they'll say is "As long as you're getting beyond your advertised speed, PowerBoost is functioning fine" or something along the lines of that lol.

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Does anyone know for sure if PowerBoost is not compatible through a USB network adapter?
I recently built a computer for someone with Windows 7 and was getting test speeds up to 30Megs amazed I switched back to my PC and was getting the standard 5megs. Only thing different is I am forced to use a usb network adapter because of driver issues with the version of XP I have.

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
I've been having problems with my modem keeping sync for the last two or three weeks. The other day I got an email saying that I now have PowerBoost. I had already been getting 2Mb uploads but 10Mb down (on 10/1 service), and after unplugging my modem as mentioned in the email, my speedtests are still only pegging at 10/2. This is in Madison, WI. Not sure if anyone else in my area is seeing any evidence of PowerBoost, or experiencing when your modem is losing sync for short periods of time, but I'm left to wonder if my trouble is tied to the attempted launch of PowerBoost in my area.

That's what is so odd, Poetique. I don't live in an big neighborhood, I actually live a mile north of a city of 5000 people but Comcast serves the city, Charter has the rural area.
I won't get too hung up on it, it's that I see the big numbers from others and wonder why I can't get much more that 17-19 with Powerboost kicking in.
thanks,
Greg

Yeah that's very strange indeed... perhaps they havn't finished deploying it fully in your area... give it a month and see if it gets better.

Well this is weird... Now powerboost is not working. I tried rebooting the modem and nothing. I have 10/2 btw.
Here is the thread where powerboost was working for me.

powerboost was working great for a few days but seems gone this past week here in San Gabriel (91775)
You might say "your getting 21 megs thats powerboost" but those are speeds ive been seeing for the past 3-4 months, not complaining just giving an update.

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Powerboost, I hate it, my downloads speed up and slow down constantly, well below my rated speed.
I have 10/1 package, my upload is steady.
No way to shut off PB????

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Power Boost has been erratic for me at best. I wish they'd either turn it off or fix it. I'm on the 5/.5 plan. I never know when things will slow to a crawl, and depending on which speed test I use, the results are all over the place. Charter's speed test usually shows between 2.1/.5 and 7.1/1.1 - at night, usually on the low end.
Tonight I get:
SpeedGuide.net:
« SpeedGuide.net Speed Test Results »
5323 kbps down (~5.32 Mbps, 650 KB/s)↓
1057 kbps up (~1.06 Mbps, 129 KB/s)↑
5120 KB downloaded in 7.88 seconds
2048 KB uploaded in 15.871 seconds
Tested on: 2009.11.06 21:45 EST
Tested from: hostgo.com
Test Link: »www.speedguide.net/speedtest/res···=2658377
Provider: mdfd.or.charter.com
Location: Redding, CA, US
And,
And yet Charter's test showed 2.1/1.
So I'm not sure what I'm getting but it's erratic.

I have the same situation. Most of the time it doesn't seem to be on, at least in my opinion.

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Question does it really pay to have the Max speed when I'm getting 25.00 added to the bill every month?
anyway to bundle max internet + basic cable + digital HD premium movie channels?

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Charter seems to have smoothed out their load balancing...
For a 5/.5 plan this isn't bad for a night test compared to what I was getting last week:
I'm a happy camper now. :)

Charter up increased the upload on the 5 Meg tier to 1 Mbps back in Spetmeber. Powerboost only affect downloads

Re: [HSI] PowerBoost + Doubled Upload Speeds
Count me in as another person that powerboost has stopped affecting, probably for about a week or so now, I was getting speeds up to 30mbps download for a period of time with powerboost, but now it's back to normal. I don't see powerboost kicking in at any time.
