So I've had a number of problems with Vonage the past few days. Calls are just lost -- people tell me they've tried calling a number of times -- but it just doesn't ring here. I'm about done.
However, I log into my Vonage account and see a change in terms of service and start the panic: am I locked into another year contract because I didn't cancel before the "renewal" date? I believe this change in the terms is enough for me to even break my contract, no?
Any help is appreciated.

Re: cancel
There is no substantial difference between the previous TOS and the current one; all the changes are slightly re-wording the previous language. And any commitment that you may have had is not refreshed at the end of the old one.
Do you have voicemail, forwarding, or simultaneous ringing enabled? Your calls likely didn't just disappear into the abyss. What did the caller's get? A message, ringback, etc?

Unless you have the yearly prepay plan there is nothing to worry about...
Unless you are genuinely unhappy with vonage I'd first try to solve the problems you are facing....

what is substantial to you and to me are two different things. that argument will always fail in court as the fact that there has been a change is enough to allow everyone out of their contracts.
voicemail is enabled, and I haven't had any problems until recently. I've had two people say they've tried to call me and I never received any notification of a call. My doctor's office left a message about an upcoming appointment and it seems to have been completely missed as well. No voicemails have been received in my email account and yes, I've checked the spam filter.

Re: cancel
I'm thinking of going cell only due to the KISS policy. I don't need another line but have kept it due to the lack of a good cell phone option. That is changing soon.
I did go into my router's QOS settings and adjust them. I also downgraded my Vonage call quality setting to the lowest option, if that will help.

Did you check the actual VM system? (Via phone, or web) The email notice is totally different, then actually getting a voicemail.
