Nice setup you got there. Like the equipment, been wanting to pick up a new PowerEdge to do some things with since my current ones are fairly out of date.

I like the HP MediaSmart Servers how has it been for you?

it is nice, tm backups up easily. I have itunes through out the house. Looking to make a mac mini a media center/tv pc. i want to try open nas on a 2900 next, pull the 4 2tb drives and buy 4 more for a 8-9 tb home nas. just need to kepp the r200 for vsphere connection and other tiems in the network

yes, and no. we used to have a lab in our office for testing, well they told us we could no longer have it but if we wanted to work from home more often "test" things we could but the stuff. bad part was I was number 3 of 2 to get a 3550 and2950 24 port gigabit switch. i did swap out the 146 gig sas drives for 1.5 so i mad more room.

Well the good thing is you get to work from home more and you get to play with some good equipment. BTW what's your power bill like since you added the new equipment?

about 8 to 10 dollars more a mount, kinda hard to tell as I put in a hot tub also so i can blame most of the use by the tub
