Westell 6100 and linksys WRT54G cannt get an IP address

I have set up the configuration just like the examples here show and set up both the linksys and the westell 6100, like that. When I try to save the password for some reason the black spot that represent the password are saved like if i put in a 16 digit password, when i acctually put in an 8 digit one, therefore I keep getting the messege when i try to connect that it was not able to get an IP Address. Does anyone have an idea about what i might have done wrong, or what i need to do inorder to have the 8 digit password to stay in the password firld or is that normal to show like that, the 16 dots?

Okay, we need a little clarity here.

Where are you entering the password? Is this going into the PPPoE settings of the 6100? Or is this going into the PPPoE settings of the linksys? Or are you connecting with WiFi, and this is going into the WiFi settings on your PC?

Its goining into the the PPPoE for the linksys, I set up the westell to bridge like the notes said and and I am putting the password in the setup screen for the linksys right underneath where it ask for the username. But when I put in the password i use to log in and save it, the screen goes black and states that it has been saved right, then when i go back to the setup page, it still has like 16 characters/black dots.

I don't have a linksys, so I don't know if that is normal.

It is common for password screens to mask the password in such a way that you cannot tell the length.

The linksys probably has logs. Those should tell you if PPPoE is failing.
