I have had DSL at this location for a year now and never had any problems with DSL until Tues 9/15, DSL started going down(red light on modem) every 5-20minutes and then coming back up, was fine all afternoon. Wed 9/16 again the same thing every 5-15 mins down again. Called tech support and was on the phone for 30 mins and he did some basic tests found nothing, told him while I was on the phone the internet went down 5 times and came back up 5 times. He transferred me to tier 2 tech support, this he did a test and found 1000's of errors and sent me a tech on thurs afternoon. The tech that came to the house tested the line outside and it was fine and tested inside again fine, he changed out modem for new 2wire wireless model. He did some more tests and everything was fine. He was gone 5 minutes and DSL went out( red light on modem again). I unplugged all phones and just left DSL plugged in and still had problems. Today Sunday it is better but still every hour or so it is still going out and coming back up. Any ideas to fix this? Before I call tech support again.

Without the statistics that the later issue modems (SS5100b and newer, or the gateway modems), we can't even guess at ideas to suggest.

Do you have one of the later SpeedStream modems? SS5100b (five L.E.D.s), SS4100, or SS4100b? Or the newer Motorola 2210? Or a 2Wire RG?

The tech that came out on thurs replaced the ss 4100 with a new 2wire RG, it went down 5 minutes after he left. JUst like the ss4100 had been doing all morning.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the connection drops issues being reported but one has to observe when testing a 2 wire modem earlier this evening, I was dropping connection once every 15 minutes. I put in a modem from another manufacturer, and it didn't drop at all. It appears there may be a synch issue with 2 wires lately on the AT & T network?
