CHCH tv - problems?

for at least a week now, when we watch like the news on this channel ie the Hamilton station, we get tons and tons of audio dropouts...

why? anyone know what's up with that?

Not sure what's up with CHCH, although I find their feed looks like crap on my HDTV. It's probably the most compressed, low bitrate looking SD channel on the dial. Their HD channel doesn't look all that great either, more like badly upconverted SD.

No big loss....I never watched much of the lame programming when it was E! but I do watch CHCH news all the time.

No way, CHCH TV is the new CITY-TV in offering uncut and uncensored movies ;)

STILL....getting the audio dropouts on that station...but all else, ie the rest of our HD channels are now running okay...

guess Cog looked after that issue for us anyways...

but CHCH? anyone know why that one station is prone to dropouts...

???

I think since the changeover in ownership they've had some persistent technical problems... I wouldn't bet a lot of money that it's Cogeco's fault.

The audio dropouts are Slogeco's problem. I have an antenna hooked up to my ATSC TV, and the video signal for the upconverted SD looks crappy, but no audio problems whatsoever. Video looks great for native HD programming (they do have some).

Well at least you get CHCH TV in HD, I live in the center of the city core have the HD package but don't get local news in HD. Oh I can watch 4 or 5 Toronto stations local news but not my own.

I agree what a waste of an HD channel as almost all of it is SD and the few movies that do show up in a widescreen format are far from HD quality.

I however have had the same problem as the OP and while watching the news at noon today there were audio dropouts ever 20 to 30 seconds and it was just plain unwatchable.
