Extend G-4100v2 covered distance
Hi to all and sorry for my english,
we need to install a G-4100v2 AP in a large environment and i never configure it.
One only AP is insufficient to garant cover for all workstation, therefore we need other AP.
My question: What i can install to extend the covered space and use/manage hot spot function in one only AP?
I need to use other G-4100 (with WDS+AP if supported) or i can use other device?
I hope to be clear.
Thanks in advanced for any help/suggestion.
Massimo

I would use one of their other Access points. It has to be wired back to the G4100 I believe.

Has already been discussed here before.
See: »question about g-4100 v2 and nwa-3100.
Keep in mind that with recent fw. the wireless of the G4100 can be switched off.

Re: Extend G-4100v2 covered distance
Thanks for youir fast reply.
If i understand correctly:
1 - One g-4100 v2 with WAN attached to Internet router and Wifi disabled
2 - One SP-200E printer connected to LAN port of g-4100 v2
3 - Sufficient number of NWA-3100 configured in WDS+AP. The first NWA-3100 of the chain attached in wired to one LAN port of g-4100 v2.
Is this correct? Whit this i lost some feature of g-4100 v2? I need to apply particular security setting between NWA-3100 and between NWA-3100 and wireless client?
Thanks another time for your help.

The G4100 wifi need not be turned off as it provides local coverage. I do not think that you can WDS NWA 3100s to work with the G4100, myimpression is that they all need to be wired back to the G4100. Call tech support to confirm.

Re: Extend G-4100v2 covered distance
The G4100 itself does not support roaming. So therefore you need to turn its wifi off. Unless you are willing to accept interruptions (read: disconnects) when you move from the CSA of the G4100 into the CSA of the 3100s.
No, you will not loose any functionality of the G4100. And you may connect them all wired or at least one wired. Keep in mind that when you create a WDS the up/download has to be shared. So all wired is always preferred.

ps: why calling ? you won't get another answer ;)

Hi to all and thanks for your reply.
Bwuutje, sorry for this, but my english is not excellent... :-) Can you explain me your "why calling ? you won't get another answer"? :-) Thanks.
Referring the configuration (and sorry for my repetion, but i need to be sure), with your reply i undestand that my steps are correct?
>1 - One g-4100 v2 with WAN attached to Internet router and Wifi disabled
>2 - One SP-200E printer connected to LAN port of g-4100 v2
>3 - Sufficient number of NWA-3100 configured in WDS+AP. The first NWA-3100 of the chain attached in wired to one LAN port of g-4100 v2.
Unfortunately i can't (wall and room position very hard) wired any NWA-3100s with g-4100 v2, therefore need to create a WDS+AP and wired one only (phisically closest) of them to lan port of g-4100 v2.
Thanks another time. Regards.

Re: Extend G-4100v2 covered distance
You can disregard the why you calling comment, it was directed at silly ole me. Sounds like bwuutje is confirming that your planned setup should work, but is advising that your throughput on the WDS side will not be very robust. In other words if your checking emails or browsing should be fine, but if downloading lots, you may not get satisfaction.
