VPN Setup Issue

Hi All,

I am using Bell Canada DSL line in Canada with Speedstream6520 modem in one of our site. I will be using the Cisco router in the back of the modem for configuring site to site VPN setup and Cisco router will be needing a static public ip address for setting up the VPN connection.

1.) Can this modem be configured as a internet gateway for my router as well as doing PPP authentication
2.) If not, if i do ppp authentication on my router, Can i configure static public ip on my router or PPP authentication server will provide me the static address after clearing PPP authetntication?

Will VPN setup work in this scenarios?

Re: VPN Setup Issue

For everything to work properly, you want the modem to run in "bridged" mode. This means that PPPoE authentication will happen on the router, and the router will be assigned the public static IP.

VPN will not really work properly if you are using your modem as a gateway.
