this might be a moronic question BUT here goes...

I just got basic DSL from ATT using a Westell 6100 modem which has more lights than my old Speedstream 5100.

I was wondering why my activity light keeps flashing when my computer is turned off?

Internet "noise".

There are people doing port scanning. Sometimes you will get traffic left over from the last user of that IP.
