Bell Raped me for Thanksgiving
I have a Samsung Omnia 3 Yr Contract, I got it cause bell gave me $250 Credit for moving to them.
I was paying $70 a month for a basic plan but unlimited Data.
I never use the phone really, but I'm surfing, checking orders, e-mails (I run a e-commerce store)
One month I get a bill for $90 something, I say ok, maybe I don't need unlimited data, I check my data usage I'm only using 20MB a month.
First call:
So I call bell - can I get my data plan reduced to 30MB a month plan, also I don't use the voicemail or call display on the phone, please remove those features.
Bell: OK SIR - you monthly bill will now be $45 a month we have a special package for data/minimum minutes for people just like you ..
Month later -
Your bell bill has arrived - $589.67
WHAT!?
Second Call:
Uh .. my bill is $589.67... why?
Bell: Oh sir it seems the last Bell rep switched you to plan where you were paying per MB ..
Me: What I thought/told her I was on the 30MB plan ..
Bell: Well .. the plan she moved you on is for web surfing not data - it shows your phone doesn't even support your plan ..
Me: What? I have a plan that does not support my phone?
Bell: Yes we'll fix that we'll credit you $505, but we're still billing you for 2 months .. you know we bill ahead a month ...
Me: Fine .. please fix it, 2 months $90 OK .. (I don't like to argue) ARE YOU SURE I won't be billed $595? Are you sure?
Bell: NO sir you are fine, this is my employee #/name. You will not be billed $595 .. everything is fixed
5 Days Later - Today - Thanksgivng
Capital One Invoice: Bell withdrew $607.79
WTF?! Seriously I can't even call them on Thanksgiving.
So anyways ... my story Bell.
I'm f***ed I keep calling them, they keep saying its fixed, I get billed $600 anyways .... I will call them tomorrow when they open .. but what am I gonna do if they rep says they'll fix it, how they shit can I believe you? But I get billed anyways ... I'm f****ed by bell. Just thanksgiving f***ed.
What are my options?

DO NOT SET UP AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWALS WITH COMPANIES who bill an amount that may vary with usage.
If fact personally I won't set up automatic billing period. I want paper in hand (or on screen) to audit before I pay.
We are seeing more and more threads about Bell borrowing customers money for months if they even catch the mistake.

Bell's president of Mobility, Wade Oosertman (Email can be found in this forum) refuses to help anyone when they contact him with these outrageous problems.
So your option is as follows:
1. Make a formal complaint to the CCTS (it's free of charge):

It's free and they will force the issue upon Bell.
Sine the CCTS allows you to make a money claim (damages etc), also state you should be compensated for the extreme loss of time, time on your cell phone that you pay for (if applicable), not being able to pay your rent on time or buy groceries because Bell fraudulently depleted your bank account (this happens too many BTW, make an example of it).
Also state as the person above stated, tell them since they are withdrawing money they are not entitled to, and since a simple web-search shows this to be a very common thing, say you want auto-withdrawal stopped (or it will continue. Let this be a learning lesson with your relationship with Bell). What the person stated above is very true... tip of the iceberg.
So file the complaint with the CCTS, ask for compensation (plus the above) and you should get it cleared up by the next billing period.
If you want to drop Bell w/o termiation fee's due to all the above, state it.
Or do nothing and continue to be their little money maker.

You're misunderstanding the word "credit". It is not the same as a "refund".
1. Your account will be billed the amount of money owed.
2. A credit will be applied for said amount.
3. You have just prepaid a years worth of $45 monthly bills.

Umm no. Fuck the credit to be applied in the future (excuse the language).
650$ taken out of an account (like many others) can really fuck a person over for their mortgage, Car payments, rent, food and other.
Even if the 650$ is negligible in the above persons case, it isn't for many people.
They can't be allowed to get away with it then return the only 3-months down the road (the standard in these cases) after they invest the money tax free and interest free on this persons back, like they do with thousands of other hardworking people.
This is an interest free loan scam they are pulling on the Canadian people.
Shit PIAC (»www.piac.ca/) should even be CC'd when/if he complains to the CCTS.
This is a long on-going scam.
People should be offended and upset that this scam has been going on for long with Bell on people with auto-withdrawals.
There should be a lawsuit. This person should even go to small claims if the CCTS doesn't award damages.

Thank goodness I told Bell Mobility to take a very long walk off a very short plank 2 years ago ...
The Co I work for for some unknown reason is sticking with (and getting shafted by) Bell. In my house, I very often am on Roam. No service at the south side of the house.

Well you have learned a valuable lesson, and that is that you should never trust a word anybody from bell ever says... I know its hard to do business this way which is why you must take all your business elsewhere.
But as far as I understand you are stuck in this doomed situation until your contract ends, for that I recommand never hanging up the phone until you have milked the rep for every single piece of information about the changes he or she is about to make on your account. Make sure you get their ID number and their name and then wait 10 minutes and call back in to verify every single peice of information you have been told by the other rep. Once you did that makes sure you get this reps name and ID as well... call a week later and to verify that every single part of the agreement is what you were told and what will happen..
To be honest you might still get fucked over but it helps if you waste hours of ur time on the phone which ur gonna waste anyway when they do screw up which is like almost always.
I forgot to add:
We are bell, resistance is fuetile you will be over-charged, lied to. Your dignity and patience will be broken and twisted you will be assimilated.

he most certainly is not. the "self-regulating body", the CWTS, came out with a code of conduct not long ago.
Bell milking him after they say they would stop milking him is certainly reason to leave them.
Has to be brought to the CCTS who said they would hold the CWTA accountable to their "self-regulating" code of conduct.

Yup, I have posted the same advise in here several times.
This is the new SOP for dealing with Bell. If only those poor souls who haven't called Bell in years only knew.
The government should fund something like a public service announcement to this effect like they used to back in the day.

Well first off, I would call your credit card company have have the charge filed as fraudulent. As well has having them blocked from future charges. Have Bell send a bill and deal with it that way.

I also got raped this thanksgiving, for years my small business telephone bill under Aliant, which just became Bell within the last year, has always averaged at max $500 a month, in August I upgraded to a samsung omnia because of a loyalty credit.
I Immediately went to their website and examined the particulars of how the phone was set up, everything looked fine except the GPS service feature was added and active on the account, I removed it because it was not needed and I didn't ask for it and didn't want to pay an extra $15 a month for it. I then added the unlimited mobile browser for $10 to accompany my unlimited text plan. August and Septembers bills were fine, I checked regularly during this time to make sure that the mobile unlimited browsing was active on the account just to make sure I didn't get slammed with some foolish bill, because of nightmare stories I have heard from others
Everything was fine Until October 15/09 then I get a voice message from Bell saying that the bill for October is over $5000 for 250mb of browser data usage and that if I didn't make a payment my account would be turned off. After calling Bell they tell me that the unlimited mobile browsing feature was removed because it was incorrectly added to the account, and that I had added the unlimited mobile browsing feature to the Omnia phone but they are saying that I also needed to add the unlimited mobile browsing to the main cell phone on the account that doesn't even have the capability to browse the internet.
It should not have been added, listed or charged on the account if it wasn't allowed. Such Bullshit!!! Unlimited mobile browsing was listed on my account on the Bell website and on the phone self serve feature for August and September. I would also check the Bell Self Serv option on the Bell omnia cell that would show me my added features, balance owing, account usage and charges up until the last 2 hours. I checked the self serve option every time I ever used any web browsing and it never showed any additional charges,but Bell is charging me $5000 for 2 weeks of web browsing WTF! I did everything I could to prevent from getting screwed by Bell but they managed to get me somehow.
Not to mention the fact that I was hung up on by 4 different employees when waiting to speak to a manager regarding this. which in itself wasted at least 2 hours of a very busy day. When I finally was able to speak to a manager she told me that they were going to reduce the usage fees down to $100 because of the circumstances and that I would receive a phone call back to confirm that the charges were removed. I never received a phone call and now looking at my bill their is a $5000 charge.
Based on data on their website regarding spending caps, they should of suspended the account once the web browsing hit $500, but they didn't.. they let it run to $5000 in less then 2 weeks which was way past my pre-set spending cap limit of roughly $500.
I don't even know who to contact at this point, every time I call Bell I either get hung up on or lied to. I am going to submit a complaint to the CCTS »www.ccts-cprst.ca/en/
(commissioner for complaints for telecommunication services)
the CRTC, PIAC, BBB and possibly the news media.
If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't waste your time with the BBB. The CRTC is a maze to navigate and a waste of time for this issue.
They will refer to Industry Canada or Competition Bureau or anyone but them.
CCTS will cost them and you should ask for specific damages in addition to your bill.
When dealing with Bell cell hell always call in several times to verify like posted above.
Your prime phone is the one you add and delete all features on and the mates will replicate those features. Good luck.

You should take Bell to small claims court.
Bell should be regulated by law to cap bills a specific intervals and should not exceed those intervals if the caps have been reached.
Seems to me that Bell are crooks and the CRTC or the government won't do anything about it.

Seeing how Kevin Crull (president of residential services) has told her over the years that Bell is improving it's customer service and experience, and to date (years later) nothing has been done to improve anything, this newest blog entry seems like a direct challenge calling out the rhetoric of broken promises given to her by kevin crull.
However, in this case with mobile, Wade Oosterman (president of mobility) directly ignores people, and his mouth piece, Helena Pannitti, directly runs away and lies to people (as was seen in the Bell Canada forum, and still seen in the Bell-Samsung forum where her Emails and phone calls have been posted).

Sorry to hear situation like that you have faced with bell. Make sure every time you deal with bell tech support or customer, keep a record of your conversation with them in a clean written script. If this can of issue occurred again, follow what dslreports' member had guide you. Take your issue to the CRTC and file complaint against bell. If your situation cannot be solve, take it further and make noise on the media. These bastard just have to learn how to treat us consumer with dignity. I had a scam like that towards me once and I file a complaint with the CRTC, but the result was satisfied.
These bastard did it on purpose for signing you with something that you had not contracted. It happen and still happen. Just make sure you willing to take some free time and take it to the federal if you have too.

I don't think media attention will matter for the OP. Bell is all over the news now for their conduct.
It appears as Conrad Black fades from memory that Bell Canada is the new face of Corporate Kleptocracy in Canada.
As multiple threads have pointed out regulatory bodies are ineffective in dealing with Bell and their sticky fingers.
Small claims court, at least in Ontario, is probably the only forum to bring personal and financial satisfaction for victims of Bell.

Both these cases have a common misunderstanding, they both received their bill within a week, This happens all the time as there is a gap between the call to get restitution and when the credit is applied, and how close to the billing date the inquiries were made. The Bill is not going to change as its already printed and posted in the books. So even though the rep made the adjustment the same day the actual bill would be already printed and in the mail. Even if the customer has E Billing there is a gap of a few days... I don't see any follow up from the complainants after their original post. Why?? because shortly after they made their call backs they would receive their new adjusted bills. Alas all the others trying to get you to waste your time with lawsuits, or complaints to the BBB etc well you should get a life and stop making unfounded accusations, if Bell Canada was ripping off customers like you all Bell haters claim the company would not be in business. What does piss me off about Bell is the unpatriotic stance they take by hiring overseas while our young people have no work and no prospects. And don't be fooled; a lot of other companies are betraying Canada by hiring overseas.We have very capable bilingual Canadian work force looking for a fair shake, Shame on you all!!!

The outsourced and cross-border outsourcing is very old news here. It's been argued to death in this forum. Bells very own forum. In the mainstream media, on blogs like Ellen Roseman, Emails sent to VP's on and on and on.

I agree, 100 Bell customers screwed likely every 2 hours is wasted energy for the likes of Bell. Even the president of residential services is scared to show his face now after he repeatedly said he would fix it a few years ago.

Not P, You are another misguided soul...Let's go back to the original reason why we are here, two people who got "screwed by mabell" I only offered an explanation as to what I think happened because it happened to my company. It would be interesting to hear from the originator to see if anything was fixed...I bet it was otherwise they would be back here spooning the broth.
I brought up the outsourcing issue because it is a reason Bell can not offer consistent service (one arm does not know what the other one is doing) It happens in large corporations...But to suggest that the issue should be swept under the rug and that it's been addressed in this forum and as a way of doing business... You are fooling yourself. You seem to go back to only getting satisfaction at the expense of spewing hate for this company and fail to see the big picture Move on with your life, Not P.. :D
