I'd hardly call going to the business tier an increase. I'd be happy with 4/1. I'm already paying more for the 4/384 tier compared to the 10.0 service and now it looks like I'll be paying more than the 20.0 service. Really, how can a business run anything substantial with a 384 upload? The next tier is 512 upload for an additional $20, and then 768 upload for an additional $40. This is not right.

I have not, but with my recent bandwidth requirements (I have been downloading server backups to my house) I might have to increase to a business tier. I would love to see a 20/5 business tier, or even a 20/10 at some point in time. Although I think with 30.0 they are still running docsis 1.x and I know the available upload is pretty low.

That's true I suppose. I am just worried about the download I am using. Roughly 25 gigs a night.

HCA @ 17th Oct 03:47PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedI believe I read that the 30.0 service will be $15 above the 20.0 service. From my view, I wouldn't sign up for that. I currently have the 20.0 service, but running speed tests (from sites other than Insight), I seldom get 20 Megs. Now and then, I do get above 20 megs on certain locations, but the majority of the speed tests I run (on SpeakEasy and Speedtest.net) report less than the 20 megs. Based on that, I don't see any reason to pay an extra $15 a month when I don't even get what I am currently paying for. All things considered, Insight is still a good deal, and generally I am happy with the service, but the speed upgrade (if and when it works) is not worth the price increase.

Singular @ 17th Oct 07:57PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedReally, I usually get 30 megs on a speed test, but I can't keep it sustained. I get throttled back after about ten seconds to 20 megs. Could be an issue with your modem or wiring or signals... It took me 6 months to get it fixed so that I could get 20.0 working where I am at now. Ended up being a bad amplifier on one of the lines that fed my neighborhood, only reason I was able to get that fixed is because it effected on demand too.

anon @ 17th Oct 11:32PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedInsight uses speed burst technology, just like Comcast to get you on and off the network quickly to allow the next person requesting bandwidth a chance for as good of an experience as possible. The next step is of course DOCSIS 3.0, but at that time the largest offering will go to at least 50Mbit/s and the existing 10.0, 20.0 and 30.0 network will be separate. Most legacy modems do not support 3.0, check your existing manufacturer's website to confirm against your model number.

ARGONAUT @ 18th Oct 03:54PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedIt wouldn't surprise me if Insight doesn't get the users they planed with Docsis 3.0.
I think the price will shock people because of lack of D3 competition.

I agree with you there.

Engineer_TA @ 18th Oct 10:23PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedSaddened that it is an additional $15 on top of the 20. I was holding off on going to 20 in hopes to get some sort of discount. I may just switch to the $59.99 lifetime guaranteed Windstream phone and internet (12Mbps down) so that I can get a slight speed boost, unlimited nationwide calling and save money too. I hate to lose my insightbb e-mail address as I use it for so many accounts online. Time to start updating I suppose.

HCA @ 19th Oct 05:51PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedWell, my speed may start out at 30 megs, for a second or two, but then usually drops significantly, and below 20 megs. It varies a lot depending on the location, but I never get consistent 20 meg speeds. Wiring has been checked, modem as well (it was replaced earlier). I think Insight advertises speeds "up to" 20 megs. It isn't guaranteed, and it seldom gets there. So, I just can't see paying an additional 15 bucks on top of what I already pay. Maybe their 30 meg service would get me a little faster download, but probably nothing consistently approaching 30 megs for most locations.

rjbasye @ 19th Oct 08:03PM:Re: Broadband 30.0 AnnouncedI also have the 20 meg service and it's fast enough for me. I don't think I'll be getting the 30 meg either.

Where did you hear that 30.0 will be $15 more than 20.0? Was it speculation, or presented as a fact?
