Truth in advertising...suggestion for George
I just switched from month to month to a contract plan, because I the newer contract rates are a bit more attractive. In the course of doing the switch, the CSR alerted me to the "ssr fee of $2.88 per month with a one year contract." I asked what that was, and he said,
"The Supplier Surcharge is comprised of Federal Universal Service Fund recovery fees that are still charged on core components within the DSLExtreme network as well as a supplier imposed surcharge which is not a tax or government imposed fee."
I know this is exactly how the other providers behave, but to me the advertised cost should be the cost plus tax.
My sense is that DSLX does not position itself as the cheap alternative, but as the one where service and reliability are a bit more of a value, and therefore I would think that your user base might appreciate the bit of additional credibility you'd get from correct advertising, and that you would lose little business...might even gain some by advertising that you are more honest than AT&T.
I "accepted" this package, but noted that I would follow up with George....so....done!
