Oceanside U-verse Disconnecting/Freezing
Hi Guys,
Long time lurker, that recently moved into a U-verse area in Oceanside CA. I had service setup for install of the U-200 bundle with 6 mb down 1 up, with voice on October 9th. This was the beginning of all hell for me. I work out of home and live by the internet. Since that friday, the following saturday i started to experiece intermittent freezing on the tv, and started to get disconnections from all my severs that i manage. I Called tech support on that day, they stated they will send out a tech that following monday, which i thougt was fantastic. The site-tech came out swapped out my gateway, and went out to the box and swapped ports?. Later that day, started experieceing the same issues. The gateway couldnt keep the signal for some reason. So i contacted tech support again, they stated another tech will come out that following Thursday. I abliged, understanding that i am not AT&T's only customer. Thursday comes by, the tech tests all lines in the home, i was testing about 29megs for the line itself, which he said was ok. The tech then had a suggestion of running the signal through the twisted pair telephone lines, but the closest line was in a small bedroom. I have 2 servers in the living room to directly click in via ethernet, and did not want to run ethernet wire through out the whole home. He then suggested to run a line i from the outside of my condo's directly into the gateway, drilling and all. Once that was complteted, which took 4 hours alone. I thought the issues resolved, later on that night started having the same issues, and now somewhat more frequently. I am litterlly at whit's end in dealing with ATT's quiality of service. Thier customer support is great, and very helpful, but not helpful enough to resolve this simple issue of having a solid connection. I live bout 2700 ft from the Vrad box, and once the tech ran the line from the box outside the condo to inside, he tested about 36 megs down. So now i contacted support they are sending out a tech to just confrim the work of the previous tech, and make an appointment for a Line man tech to come out. Is this common for ATT to use me as testing subject for thier services? I must have spoken with 25 different people at ATT since i started this sevice 9 days ago!
Anyone else in oceanside experiencing what i am?

Re: Oceanside U-verse Disconnecting/Freezing
Look at the top of the forum for the Contact Tier 2 agents sticky. Email them what's going on. Something else seems off maybe a bridge tap on the line or who knows.
The tier2 guys here have a very good track record. They won't be in till morning.

Re: Oceanside U-verse Disconnecting/Freezing
That could explain some things. You may need to drop to the 19meg profile vs the 25meg which would limit you to 1HD/2SD.
If he's still there I'd ask if any bridge taps are on the line.

But yea he was saying that the 19 meg profile should work, but only 1 HD chan... man that really sucks I have 2 tv's. And now i pay for HD service for only 1 tv..

Re: Oceanside U-verse Disconnecting/Freezing
Contact Tier2 and let them know what happened. Hopefully the line tech left some notes Tier2 can read and they can look at your info. Maybe they can find something but you maybe limited to the 19meg till VDSL2 and/or pair bonding comes out

Have you contacted uversevcare@att.com ?
Or use the AT&T direct forum here on DSLReports.com -- they do a great job over there.

Re: Oceanside U-verse Disconnecting/Freezing
The title of this thread caught my eye because my house is in Carlsbad (just sough of Oceanside) and have been having disconnect problems. The symptoms are quite similar. One major difference is that I am 1600 feet away and I had been getting good, stable connection until Sept 18 since the initial installation of U-verse in Dec 2008.
Thanks to huge help from the Tier2 guys (Bobbie and Sam), I was able to get (so far) 7 technicians (8 visits) who looked into my problem. Unfortunately, they have not been able to identify the root cause of the disconnects. "Trouble" is that after each visit I get connected but that does not last long. The same issue comes back often times within a few minutes and other times after several days.
I really wish the problem gets solved very soon.

Re: Oceanside U-verse Disconnecting/Freezing
Update: Since i am 3400 ft from VRAD, and i do not want to pay for HD service with a downgraded profile, since i have 2 HDTV's. It would be pointless to make sure one TV is not watching HD. I still experience intermittent disconnectivity. I like att alot, but wow, this s horrid, ive wasted over 30 hours this month trying to get resolution. That is not accounting the dropped lines, and waiting for service to reestablish. This does not help pay the bills. It actually is hindering me in completing projects. With that said, i would like to thank all the users on here with your help, and it is very unfortunately im leaving Uverse , and going with Cable.
Thanks again for all your help guys!
