new modem- newsgroup problems persist.

A new modem configured by DSLX, and STILL NG problems.

Only one thread, and sometimes it will go to error message;
"400.news.dslextreme.com.Your per-user connection has been reached-support@dslextreme.com"
This, with NO active threads connected.

I therefore presume, that although I can no longer SEE the
disconnects (because the modem does not authenticate),
they are STILL OCCURRING!

Hi combdyn -

I have been following up with our technicians on your account and was exchanging emails this afternoon with them on possible other options. Unfortunately at this point we have exhausted our options. Though we are extremely persistent in trying to get issues resolved, I am not sure why your line isn't properly renewing the IP address without dropping connectivity. It appears that there are stop requests coming from the Qwest side but we have not been able to isolate down why your connection isn't renewing the IP address with Qwest on their IP network as it should prior to dropping the connection. We have compared your account with others are aren't seeing the same issue on other similar accounts. Though we are happy to try to continue to investigate with Qwest we may be forced to disqualify your location if we aren't able to get the issue resolved.

Thanks

DSLX GM,

Thank you for having Jeff call me today.

After hearing that you and your assigns had given up, and having three modems here, I removed the latest provided modem (actiontec) and re-connected the d-link modem.
Lo and behold,I now have newsgroup access again with two threads w/o disconnect (so far).
Perhaps,as Jeff freely admits he knows nothing about newsgroups,or access thereto, you could possibly assign someone to this newsgroup problem that is actually familiar with newsgroup authentications?

And now I am unsure of which modems to return.

Re: new modem- newsgroup problems persist.

Thanks for the update. I would be happy to open a ticket with the third party news group service provider to take a look. I assume you are using news.dslextreme.com. Can you let me know what newsgroup reader you are using? Does the issue occur across all readers?

Thanks

Re: new modem- newsgroup problems persist.

Yes. Problem w/ both BNR2 and Grabit.
I have been using news4. Wrong?

Not one disconnect since re-establishing D-link modem,
and having a long chat with my Qwest business rep.

Opening a ticket now (w/o occurrences) would be useless.
Let's see how long this utopia lasts.

Has there been any causal-effect established with the
configured/non-configured modems?
Which modems should I return now, as my return window may be closing?

Re: new modem- newsgroup problems persist.

We recommend using news.dslextreme.com. That is the newest newsfarm that is hosted in their Ashburn datacenter. Since they launched that farm about 18 months ago we get few if any questions regarding newsgroups. Go ahead and give that a try.

Go ahead and hold onto the modems for another week.

Thanks
