[DVR] My DVR keeps recording repeat episodes...

My co-worker and I have both recently switched to Insight and we are running into problems with our DVRs recording all repeats of certain shows even though "record only new episode" is selected. We both have the new Pace "Aspen" boxes. I am wondering how widespread this issue is, and if there is any way to fix it. I have deleted and re-added these series recordings multiple times to no effect.

It happens all the time with "The Soup" on E! …and "Dexter" on Showtime. It also occasionally happens with The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

The info clearly states "Repeat" so I have no idea why it's not picking it up.

I've also had a half dozen or so instances where the DVR screws up and records a 1 minute clip and that's all. Any help would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly when this was seen with Comcast they blamed it on the provider of the show data. Again if I remember correctly there is a marker within that data which is interpreted by the machine. If the marker is incorrect you will then see repeated episodes recorded when you shouldn't.

I saw this again with Comcast last week with a different model cable box.

Well that stinks. If they can't get good guide information from a company whose sole purpose is creating a TV Guide …people need to start complaining. It's not like DVRs are rare anymore.

Just curious, but what did you guys switch FROM? (& why)
Did you have a DVR with your previous provider?

I didn't have cable before. (I love my Roku, Netflix Streaming, and Amazon VOD)

My co-worker switched from WOW, and he didn't have a DVR with them.

Well as Iggy said, the problem appears to be in the guide data, which comes from TV Guide itself. (who you'd think WOULD have the correct data :uhh: ) Other providers like cc that use TVG seem to always have this problem as well, while other providers, namely DirecTV & DISH that use Tribune guide services, DON'T have this problem.
