Hi
Here's an interesting system issue. Many Cox phone customers are having intermittent issues calling AT&T phone customers. It's been going on for several days and Cox says it is under investigation.
The typical symptoms appear to be the called party from a Cox phone can't hear the caller. On my iPhone, my voice is simply echoed back to me. It can also occur when calling a Cox phone from my iPhone. Either the called Cox phone produces no audible ring sound on my phone or when the Cox phone picks up the echo sound occurs on my phone.
Since this has been going on for several days, maybe all this week, Cox still reports to customers that there is no solution or timetable for one.

Sounds like a issue with ATT :) Call is going through and hung up on the way....
Let them figure it out...
Better yet I just called my buddy on his iphone he picked up and said he didnt know of any issues..
FYi he works for ATT :)

I have 3 lines with ATT with 2 Cox lines and I can not reproduce this issue. Called Cox and they haven't heard of any issues. Called ATT and they haven't heard anything about it.
By many Cox phone customers who do you mean because I haven't found anything besides this post on Google either.

This exact issue is happening with me. I have AT&T, and my parents and my brother both have Cox phone service. Consistently with my parents and intermittently with my brother, all I hear on my end is an echo of my own voice, even though the person on the other end can hear me.
Also, when my mom tried to leave a voice mail for me, the AT&T voice mail system kept asking her if she was done with her message because it couldn't hear her. On my end, the voice mail was just a short beep followed by silence.
Here are a couple of other possibly related pieces of information:
• I have an iPhone 3g.
• My phone number and their phone numbers are all area code 623, but I reside in and make most of my phone calls from area code 520.
I'm at a loss as to knowing whether to contact Cox or AT&T about the problem.

Hi
Since Cox confirmed to at least one customer that this was a Cox issue I've stayed with Cox. AT&T told me it was not their issue.
Yesterday, Nov. 3, was the first day I had without the issue. Possibly it is finally fixed after more than two weeks.
