[CA] Have to renew IP regularly to maintain access

Every few days I have to log into my router and tell it to release its WAN ip address and renew it before I can browse the web again...its like nothing resolves, DNS keeps failing to find anything until I renew my IP address.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Could it be a flaky cable modem? or is it something else?
I seem to have this problem mainly when using Windows 7 64bit

Have you duplicated this problem when running your computer directly into the modem?

Ah no I haven't.
I haven't had my computer plugged directly into the modem in years. I could do that, but then my wife would lose access, my iphone would lose wifi access and my kid's wii would lose access to the internet...and the problem is intermittent so I'd have to leave it that way for a while...

I might try to get a replacement router and see if it follows the router

what type of router are you currently running? do you have the most updated firmware? have you tried downgrading your firmware (if you're running the most current)?

I have the same issues. Do you have a TRENDnet router? I assumed that was the cause of my issue, but i had got my router RMAed and the issue still occurs. It doesn't happen when i plug directly into the modem though.
