Hi

Recently switch to faster DSL from Verizon and got the Westell 7500 as part of the deal. Since getting this unit I find that I can not get email using SSL (port 995) UNLESS I lower my firewall.

Any recommendations on getting this to work with high security firewall settings? SMTP is just fine!

If it were me, I would just lower the firewall.

I don't have a 7500 to check. On other Westell modems, the high security option only allows the standard (non-SSL) ports for email and a few other ports (such as for web browsing and DNS).

Either lower the security, or go to custom security and add in rules to allow what you want.

The router firewall is mostly making outbound restrictions. The inbound restrictions (no unsolicited connections) will still be in place even if you lower the firewall setting.
