I am having the same problem as folks in this topic. I tried reaching dsl extreme support by live chat and nobody even know what Usenet or newsgroups were. When I called tech support they insisted that I had multiple connections open so I hung up.

[Removed] is my login. I can authenticate fine and download messages I just can't send.

After troubleshooting quite a bit and calling tech support I remembered that I USED to use one of the other computers here at work for newsgroup when we had DSL extreme for the business.

Even though that account is no longer a dslextreme customer I am still able to login and send messages to news.dslextreme.com without error.

So why can an inactive customer send and connect but I cannot?

The only difference between my current computer and the other one at work is the work one uses live and I use outlook express.

The most common reason for getting that error is the usenet client you are using not gracefully terminating the connection. If that occurs the connection can remain connected in the third party usenet servers system. It will eventually drop out. We offer two connections per account. How many connections are you attempting to use? Can you confirm that you are using news.dslextreme.com as the server address?
