Need Urgent Help!
Around 7pm last night, my internet stopped working. I went through all the normal troubleshoot options with my Modem/Router, but it still didn't work, even though my Modem (Motorola SB 5100) gave every indication that it was connected to the internet, and my router said it was receiving a signal from the modem. I checked all my hardware, everything checks out ok, but here's my problem.
No matter what I do, I only can get a internet connection if my computer is plugged in directly into my modem. If I plug in my routers (I tested three, BEFSR41, WRT54G, and the one I just bought TODAY, the WRT120N). Wireless or wired, it will not give me DNS servers or Internet access. What could be the cause of this? When it failed yesterday, no settings in the router changed. They've been the same for years (this is on the WRT54G).
EDIT: It looks like my DNS servers and IP were both changed, however, the problem still occurs. The only way to connect to the internet is to directly connect it to the modem, and it does display my new DNS servers(209.18.47.61/62)/IP address (65.24.37.191)
My old DNS servers used to be 65.24.7.10 and 65.24.7.11, but that should be irrelevant since all my devices are set to automatically obtain IP/DNS.
If I enter the new DNS servers on any of my devices when the router is plugged in, it says failed even though it works when directly connected.
Am I missing something really small here?
Why is it doing this to me?
EDIT 2: Seems like my issue has been resolved. I called up Time Warner's 24x7 tech service and they pushed a new config file and then walked me through all the normal steps I already did before that (rebooting modem/router, that kind of stuff) and it worked. 2 new IP addresses later, and some new DNS servers, my issue seems to be resolved. Great customer service on Time Warner's part.
Still dunno why I had the issue, is it possible for a config file to become corrupt?

Re: Need Urgent Help!
I had the same issue night before and it was a routing issue. So next time you have a issue try to ping by dns numbers and domain name and if you can ping by dns numbers and cant ping by domain name then you know its a routing issue.

Re: Need Urgent Help!
Why not just clone your mac address from the pc that works into the router. Seems like way to much work for something so simple.

^No idea how to do that. I'm just happy it's running now.
