Re: [Update] TuneUp Utilities 2010 now available

The current version number of TuneUp Utilities - Version 2010 is 9.0.2000
New Features in this Version

TuneUp Utilities stands out thanks to its intuitive ease of use. During development, major emphasis was placed on enabling Windows users of every level of expertise to optimize their computer efficiently and, above all, thoroughly. Below is an overview of the most important new features:

The new TuneUp Turbo Mode
The TuneUp Turbo Mode gives you an immediate performance boost whenever you need it. It switches off numerous functions that run in the background even when you are not actually using them.

The new TuneUp Live Optimization
TuneUp Utilities offers you two new optimization methods that ensure smooth workflow even at high utilization. If necessary, the computer response rate is increased or a program startup process is accelerated.

The new TuneUp Utilities Gadget
For Windows Vista and Windows 7, there is now a TuneUp Utilities gadget that always displays the computer's status on the desktop without you having to launch TuneUp Utilities.

The new TuneUp Optimization Report
TuneUp Utilities provides a straightforward report showing you which maintenance and other optimization tasks you have already done using TuneUp Utilities and what benefits these have brought.

The new-look Start Center
TuneUp Utilities has been completely revamped: The new Start Center is even easier to use, and provides even faster access to each function, while still keeping track of the state of the computer.

Ready for Windows 7
TuneUp Utilities fully supports the new Windows 7 operating system. Just like Windows XP and Vista, TuneUp Utilities also runs on the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

Even more extensive Automatic Maintenance options

Automatic Maintenance and 1-Click Maintenance now carry out even more maintenance tasks for you. You can also set up the Automatic Maintenance so that it only starts when you are not actively working at the computer and - for a portable computer - when this is connected to a power supply.

New way of defragmenting the hard disk
The new TuneUp Utilities now offers you two ways to defragment your hard disk: one is particularly thorough and the other is very fast.

Easier defragmentation of the registry
In the previous version the registry had to be defragmented right after the analysis at restart. In the new TuneUp Utilities you can now postpone this optimization to the next time you start up your computer, meaning you no longer need to interrupt your work for this.

Freeing up disk space even more safely
You can now delete unnecessary files and old backups separately from each other in order to free up disk space on your hard disk. This allows you to safely remove redundant files at any time. After every clean up, TuneUp Utilities also shows you how much disk space has been freed up and how many image and music files this equates to.

Easier to use
Many TuneUp Utilities functions are now even easier to use, making it much simpler for you to optimize your Windows system.

More information on your programs
TuneUp Utilities provides you with a revised description of all programs installed on your computer. If you would like more information on one of these programs, you can click to show the results of an online search. This helps you to quickly find out what the program does so that you can decide whether you need this program to start automatically or rather remove it from your computer all together.

System requirements
Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or higher), Vista or Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit)
256 MB RAM
Screen resolution at least 1024x600 pixels
Online version: min. 80 MB free hard disk space
CD version: min. 300 MB free hard disk space (and CD-ROM drive)

If you have bought the CD version of TuneUp Utilities but your netbook does not have a CD drive, you can go to www.tune-up.com , download our test version and activate this with the product key printed on the CD cover.

If you have bought the CD version of TuneUp Utilities but your netbook does not have a CD drive, you can go to www.tuneup-software.co.uk, download our test version and activate this with the product key printed on the CD cover.

I've tried a few of the "modules", and no issues so far. It seems TuneUp never releases any version until it's been thoroughly tested. I've had 4 or 5 TuneUps over the years, and they've all worked flawlessly... I don't expect anything less with this version. :-)

Re: [Update] TuneUp Utilities 2010 now available

thee correct version ;) awesome program

TuneUp Utilities 2010 v.9.0.2000.16

TuneUp Utilities can make your Windows operating system faster, more comfortable and more secure with just a few mouse clicks. And all operations performed on the operating system are completely safe, because all changes are monitored by TuneUp Rescue Center and can be undone at any time. All TuneUp Utilities modules can be accessed through a common interface that is divided into six categories.
The software helps both beginners and experts to make Windows meet their needs in a way that is better, easier and safer. All important system options are explained in an easy way and can be turned on or off at the click of your mouse. TuneUp Utilities will then make the necessary changes in the registry or boot files automatically. We place a high value on system stability, so that Windows won't stop working reliably. And most changes that you make can be undone in TuneUp Rescue Center - easily and safely.

TuneUp Utilities automatically runs important maintenance tasks for you, makes you aware of any problems and offers simple solutions. This ensures performance is always at its best. A slow and untidy computer is now a thing of the past for you. You can also use TuneUp Utilities to customize the appearance of your Windows system - to make working on your computer more enjoyable.

With TuneUp Utilities you will quickly make your Windows system faster and more convenient to use- and ensure that it stays like this for the long term. This makes TuneUp Utilities the perfect program for everyone: for those who would rather leave the computer maintenance to a reliable partner as well as for those who would rather do everything themselves.

The TuneUp Turbo Mode provides an immediate performance boost whenever you need it. When you use your computer in the TuneUp Turbo Mode, an analysis is performed to see which tasks, programs and functions are currently running in the background that are not strictly necessary. These programs are stopped or slowed down, allowing the additional processing power gained to be used exclusively by the programs you are actually running.

I thought this was pretty rude.
It also occurs in TuneUp 2009 after applying any build updates. It just starts 1 click maintenance even when I previously disabled it. Annoying! How often does TuneUp think I need to run their services anyways?

TU 2009 drove me crazy with it's 1 click maintenance module. I remember when I installed it the first time, I wanted to image my drive before running any of the tools. All of a sudden I see the little balloon pop up that said 300 problems had been fixed. I'm like HEY STOP THAT!!

Tuneup 2010 seems more laid back in this regard. After installing it, I went right in and set the automatic maintenance for 2:15 AM. I also took the check mark out of "Enforce maintenance one week after this period if the computer was not idle long enough". I will most likely never have my PC on at 2:15 in the morning, so 1 click should never happen.

If you turn off automatic maintenance, then you don't get the nice feel good green check mark under Maintain system.......and that kinda bugs me.

Is this version more "bloated"?

Does it have stuff running in the background that you can't shut off permanently? If so then I will stay with 2007/2009.

The reason that I (used to) like TUU is that it was not invasive and did not have stuff running in the background all the time "doing stuff for me". If it has become yet another ever growing program that just keeps getting bigger and bigger and creating more and more modules that are always running and doing things that I can't stop then I will pass.

Re: [Update] TuneUp Utilities 2010 now available

Darn Tuneup ran automatic maintenance this morning. I have it set to run at 2:15 AM on Fridays. Since my system was not on then, it played catch up when I started it up this morning.

The "Enforce maintenance one week after this period if the computer was not idle long enough" is for the "idle" setting only under "Run automatic maintenance". If you take the check mark out of that, but have "according to schedule" selected under "Run automatic maintenance", Tune does a catch up automatic maintenance run on your system if it wasn't on at the scheduled run time.

If you have "idle" selected under "Run automatic maintenance" then for sure automatic maintenance will run because at some point your system will be idle.

The only sure way of keeping automatic maintenance from running is turn it completely off. But then you won't have a nice green check mark for that section.

HOLY ANNOYING LIMITED OPTIONS BATMAN! :o  :p
Hows about an option that says: "automatic maintenance disabled/manual maintenance only"
Actually they do have a manual maintenance only. But, tuneup likes to warn you in a few places that it's on manual, and should be set to automatic.

EDIT: Wow, I really need to get SnagIt installed. This Win 7 snipping tool sucks. It's like cave man art.

Re: [Update] TuneUp Utilities 2010 now available

I do believe I have discovered a simple work around for the automatic maintenance issue. If you want to keep the nice green check mark under "Maintain system" but don't want automatic maintenance to run, then do this.

Set up the automatic maintenance schedule for any time you like. See screeny! Then, go into Windows task scheduler, and simply disable the scheduled task. Even after doing this, the green check mark remains in Tuneup. I even tried it out, and no automatic maintenance was run at the scheduled time. I even rebooted, and the green check mark remained.

Thanks for the tip! :-)

I just put all my Utilities in a Desktop folder and run the one I want so I don't have to look at all the warnings on the main TU screen. LOL! ;-)

Re: [Update] TuneUp Utilities 2010 now available

tried/am trying tuneup 2010 now (running) after un installling older model, think I'll pass on it,
why,
1, Older program shows problems& will fix them automatically,

2010 tunesup list them id you want to see thenm, then ask permission to fix them

2, Defrag on older program is defrag,(zip bam, boom, done)

2010 if you click on this you ca figure 1/2 hour plus that this program is going to take, looks like some "'comestic changes, but thats about it.

not saying new 2010 good/bad, but am saying not for me,
