Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Same, live in Washington and quite a few sites are extremely slow to load or won't. I have the same redirect as you, but my modem is having issues or something showing 100% packet loss in pingplotter and yet everything else not linked with google works perfect.

Yeah I am having slow page downloads for some sites, or sites will load banner and nothing else. Also having issues with most of google services, mainly Gmail.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Yep, same thing here in Nevada. Gmail and random other sites are very slow to load. I wonder if it has anything to do with the power boost implementation. I have double the speeds at times but others are just a pain. I have very little packet loss if at all on most of my monitors.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Having trouble in San Luis Obispo, CA. Tracert never reaches gmail, and pings there are lost. Other google services (google search, youtube, etc) are slow as well.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Same issue here with Google sites (search, Gmail, Adsense, etc.)
I switched my modem DNS settings from Chrter's to OpenDNS and that seems to have helped a little, but not in any consistent way.
While I appreciate the (supposedly) faster speeds that come from the PowerBoost roll-out, I'd give it back in a second to get rid of this issue.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
We have confirmed that this is related to the Google servers that service Charter on the west coast. This looks like it's probably Google's problem with a server array that services Charter. It's possible that this is a group of servers that is actually on charter space. We have escalated to the Charter noc as there isn't anyone at Google to finger....

All the sites are hosted on google servers. If you ping youtube.com and put that ip address into a whois lookup, it shows google owns the ip space. So it appears youtube pays google to host its content.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Youtube is owned by google.... Missed that purchase a few years ago?
So Charter directly peers with Google and something with that link is likely the problem.
If someone else out there could do 1K of pings to the google server, could you report the results?

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Oddly enough pings go through fine, though running pingplotter shows packet loss along the trace. The sites seem to work for a few page views at times then stops abruptly, I'll grow tired come back a few hours later to have the same thing happen. Stopped pinging after 150 pings with zero loss and yet I'm unable to pull anything up on the site I'm pinging.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Charter has found a problem on their core that they are working on... They have set my expectations for a solution soon.... It's possible that this had larger ramifications that were not as apparent...

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
Very interesting. I bet this is why I have been having trouble with websites the past few days. Especially with loading and the hanging. Even the usual websites I visit. Good to see it is being resolved soon. Please update us if you can when it is completely fixed. Or even another Charter rep. if you cannot. Would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [HSI] Is traffic being re-routed?
The problem was the private peering point for the west coast between charter and Google. Charter shut down the peering ppint until they can truely fix it and let BGP reroute all traffic to another peering point. That made the problem go away. It happened late last night. I'm a little freaked that we would find/report/chase the problem before any charter cable customers did. Seems like it should have generated tons of customer complaints... Maybe there is just no way for cable customers to feed this sort of thing back in. Or they are just used to this kind of service, or thought it was a google problem Anyways, we will be more vigilant in the future... The line between websites and networks continues to blur...

If this is a temp. fix until Charter can fix it completely. Hope fully it will be fixed some time next week since after all. It is the weekend.
