Mediacom Email Being Blocked By ISPs For Spam
I currently have email addresses through both Mediacom and MobileMe (Apple's .Mac Service). For the past month, my wife, who has a Mediacom email address (.mchsi), has been unable to send email to my MobileMe (.mac account). They keep bouncing back as undeliverable. Upon further investigation, I found that I am unable to receive any email from the .mchsi domain on my .mac account as Apple has place a block on Mediacom due to spam.
Apple has attempted to resolve this problem for many of their customers with Mediacom, but they (Mediacom) has been unresponsive. Here is the text of an email I received from MobileMe's support desk.
"I am a a MobileMe Senior Advisor , and as such I am the highest level of MobileMe support that can assist you.
I am truly sorry but your mail provider mchsi.com is responsible for sending vast amounts of spam and phishing messages to MobileMe members. As such they have been blocked and we are unable to grant them access again until they are able to remedy the situation. This has been done to insure the safety of MobileMe members. If you do a search on the internet for "mchsi" and "blocked", you will find that many service providers have added mchsi.com to their blacklist for this same reason.
I know this puts you and other members like you in a tough situation and we do apologize. We have attempted to reach mchsi.com by phone on several occasions so we can address this situation but they have not replied to any of our attempts to reach them. As much as we would love to correct this issue for you and for our other members who also use mchsi, com, we have to consider the safety of other MobileMe members as well.
Please ask your provider mchsi.com to contact us via chat or by email at dotmacadmin@apple.com to discuss how they can limit the amount of spam and phishing they send to MobileMe members and thus remove the block on their mail servers. "
Bainch, any chance of you being able to drive your support area to contact MobileMe's support area to resolve this blacklisting issue?

It won't help for long, they will just go back to being blacklisted. I played that game some time ago and gave up. I would suggest setting your wife up with a new email address not using mediacom.

Have you tried contacting Mediacom about it yet?

This probably has something to do with the Sorbs email blacklist having mchsi.com listed on their blacklist. If Apple is using the Sorbs blacklist, which I certainly HOPE they aren't using (google Sorbs and read up on their questionable practices) then it could certainly be the cause of the block.
Just for some perspective, this link shows what blacklists mchsi.com shows up on.
