Question about up/down signal levels....
OK, hopefully someone has an idea what casues this. My sigs can go from this:
Downstream:
+3
Upstream:
47
to this:
DS = -4 to -9
US = 55 to 59
In a flash. I mean just BOOM bad sigs. Then a few mins or hours later BOOM back to normal. Oddly enough it does not seem to effect either the speed (much) or the stability of the connection (before the speed upgrade last month when this happened I would be lucky to hold a connection)
Seems odd things can be GOOD then BAD then GOOD when not one thing has been changed anywhere in my place.

Re: Question about up/down signal levels....
This could be a modem misreporting (I have seen it) but it would also be a problem with a active, like something with the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) If it continues you can have CS run a RF ping to your modem and see if theres much movement in your RF.

Considering he's been having problems and lives in an apt building with inadequate wiring I doubt it's his modem.

The issues have not be near as bad as in the past. Before when it would act up it would not even hold a sync. At least it works and the speed did not seem to be affected.
