DSLExtreme with Supramax DSL602e?
Hey all,
I just signed up with DSL Extrem. I bought a new DSL modem a few months ago, so I elected to use that one instead of getting one shipped to me. And now I can't get it to work, of course.
My Modem is a Diamond Supramax DSL602e. It's supposed to be able to run in bridge mode, and I've been using the right VPI and VCI settings, but I just can't get an IP address with either a directly connected laptop or a linksys router.
The DSL connection is definitely up, I already called DSL Extreme's hotline and they could ping my modem. The weird thing is that I can set the modem to DHCP and it can get an IP address form DSL extreme, but once I set it to bridge, no IP address for any connected device.
I have a feeling this may have something to do with the LAN configuration. The modem offers the options to either set this to unmanaged, use PPP or use a static address lilke 192.168.0.1. I tried unmanaged or static, both hasn't really worked. Do I need to als assign a netmask, default gateway, host name and domain if I use th static IP address? And which would those be?
Maybe somebody is already using he modem with DSL Extreme? I'd appreciate any help.

I am not personally familiar with that modem. Since I don't believe it is one of the more common modems I am not sure if others here would be either.
You indicated that when you set the modem to router or DHCP on the WAN side you were able to get an IP address from us on the modem. If that works you may just need to setup the LAN side to hand out internal DHCP addresses. Most modems typically have a LAN tab in the setup and a wizard. Try setting it to pass out DHCP addresses and see if your computer gets assigned an IP address from the modem.
If that doesn't work you may want to either call the modem manufacture and or get a free lease from us.
Thanks
