[ALL] Changing Primary Cox e-Mail Address

This question is aimed more toward our "Cox Folks" but as always I'd appreciate anyone's feedback.

Due to the uncontrolled SPAM load, I desire to change my "primary" Cox e-mail to one of my currently active "secondary" Cox e-mails.

Question: How is the best way to go about making this change?

As all the "back end" systems seem to be keyed to my current primary e-mail address ...

(and all the various Cox tools -- Phone tools, e-mail, acct mgmt, etc. -- are currently working as advertised)

... I don't want a well-intentioned but poorly trained CSR to "gum up the works" attempting to make this change.

Basically for those reasons you mentioned primary email addresses are not changeable. Technically it is possible but it usually results in days of escalations to our advanced support teams in Atlanta to fix all of the collateral damage that results. My suggestion would be to leave your primary as is and just not use it for email.

Re: [ALL] Changing Primary Cox e-Mail Address

Well ... I appreciate the honesty. Thanks.

That's sort of what I feared.

FYI, I have NEVER used this particular e-mail for anything other than correspondence to/from Cox -- I've NEVER given it out -- and don't intend to EVER use it for anything other than for communications to/from Cox.

The problem is that any genuine communications from Cox re: my account are lost in the SPAM.

I gave up on the "Report as SPAM" feature a long time ago.

You can always change your preferred contact email address for Cox related correspondence. Just sign in with the primary user/pass and goto Manage My Account to change your contact preferences.

When primary gets deleted for non use/inactivity won't the sub accounts go with it? or are the primaries immune from being purged?

Primary email will not be deleted for exactly the reason you stated.

As the last poster mentioned primary accounts are not deleted due to inactivity for the reasons I mentioned above.

How long does a secondary have to be inactive for the account to be deleted? And is it just the e-mail that gets deleted or the whole account? I was planning to use a secondary for some webhosting (but not e-mail), but wouldn't want the website to be deleted for account inactivity.

Re: [ALL] Changing Primary Cox e-Mail Address

I would think you could keep a secondary e-mail address active simply by "hitting it" on a routine basis.

(e.g. automated POP e-mail retrieval by e-mail client)

Whether the account is actually used for mail (I suspect) would be irrelevant.
