[IL] HD dropouts, poor analog quality. Lose audio on all channel
I have a close family member in Abingdon, IL who has been having issues with mediacom. We have been through a few dvr's already. I am fairly sure this is a signal issue. Analogs are pretty bad. Fuzzy. digital channels look pretty good but they drop out a lot of times. HD is pretty much unreliable. Drop outs all the time. They came out and ran new wire from outside into the house and wired the entire house about a year ago. So, new wires.
They blamed the digital box before. So, we went from a motorola to a pace box. The pace box had more issues than i can count. got that swamped out for another older motorola box. Same issues with all of them.
When they call up, they either reset the cable box or tell us to take the cable box to the local office at 8am the next day. The homeowner is in his 80's so he doesn't know what to do. Is there someone at mediacom i can call that would be able to help me get this fixed? I will be at this location til wednesday night or later. Internet/digital phone resets at random times too. For no reason. This is my signals on the modem:
Downstream
Freq/Power: 117.000 MHz 3 dBmV
Signal to Noise Ratio: 37 dB
Modulation: QAM256
Upstream
Freq/Power: 31.008 MHz 44 dBmV
Channel Type: DOCSIS 1.x (TDMA)
Symbol Rate: 2560 kSym/sec
Modulation: QAM16

How many and what type of splitters between the outside cable and the dvr box?

One 3 way splitter in the basement. Mediacom provided. 7db going to cable modem, 7db going to a spare room, and the 3.5db going to the tv. Tv goes out a lot more than the cable modem/digital phone. Internet is less often. Most times we don't even know it. Tv is main priority at this point.

Shouldn't the modem be on a 3.5 DB? and the TVs be on 7 DB?
That's what I was told anyway when I had signal issues was that the modem should be on 3.5 DB and of the TVs be on 7

with his signal it wouldnt matter on the splitter, and actually the 7db drop is better (Closer to digital 0 at the modem). Your SNR looks ok on your modem so i couldnt say you have a noise on the line. Could be a tilt issue with your signal. Do you notice if the poor quality on the analog is in the higher channels or lower? Reading your post closer here i see your net drops at times too. Sounds like the signal might just drop then come back. When this happens check your modem lvls and see if they change much. If not then it could be a few things. Noise could be one, you might also have a problem with an Active dropping, or laser clipping on the node. I would ask a few people near by and see if they get the same thing
