AVG 9 upgrade??

I am running AVG Free 8.5 on my desktop and netbook PC's... Recently on my netbook I get a popup asking to upgrade to AVG 9... I don't get this popup on my desktop PC... Is the AVG 9 upgrade still the FREE edition and why does it only appear on my netbook??

Yes it is still free , i don't like AVG , but run it on my media comp as it almost never goes on the web , .
Seems a bit faster than 8.5 , so far no troubles

I haven't seen this popup as of today's date. I have version 8.5 Free also. Perhaps it will popup one of these days ;)

My prompt to upgrade shows up on the AVG console app -- it's in the column to the left...

Opened the app...nothing shows up on the bottom right...my Updates are current...linkscanner, defs, etc...but nothing re version to 9 :(

Why doesn't "upgrade to 9" come up when I ask for upgrade info?
Says I'm already up to date.

but why should you bother about the pop up, u can just go to free.avg.com and download the free version of avg 9, its really good

and the next thing is that do u really get such a pop-up, because i didn't get a pop up, the information is just displayed right below the avg window, to read such info u need to only click on the restore button available on the title bar of your avg window and make sure that u have clicked on show information button available right below

Seriously... All this because you didn't get a popup? I never got a popup. Why? Because the moment I knew version 9.0 was available for download, I went there and downloaded it.

The only issue that I've seen is that there is an option to run a scan on startup if the scheduled one is missed... it's checked by default.
Go to Tools, Advanced settings, Schedules, Scheduled scan to disable this option.

All good other than that...

Figured that's what you meant.
Well, I kept getting my WDefender icon stating 'turned off'...so I just decided to remove AVG Free 9 and after rebooting, installed, updated, etc., the MSE...which works perfectly...and I don't have all that other crap (bloated files) from AVG Free on my pc anymore...and my pc runs faster without the AVG Free too ! :)
