Screwed up Rebate: Next Step?

When we ordered our U-Verse on 7/23/09 (under my wife's name), we got the impression we were getting the $200 or $250 rebate/reward (can't remember now) for ordering U200 online.

By middle October (16th I think), we had not received a reward notification postcard in the mail and rewardcenter.att.com showed no rewards. My wife called the rewards number (can't remember the date--Oct 17th maybe?) and they told her we weren't entitled to any rebates/rewards. What?!

On Oct 22nd, I checked rewardcenter.att.com and it says we're now entitled to a $50 reward for ordering AT&T U-Verse 30-30-30 which I believe is the plan for $30 for U-100, $30 for Pro Internet, and $30 for U-Verse Voice. But we have U200, Max 12 Internet, and U-Verse voice. What?!

I then sent an email to uversecare@att.com on Oct 22nd and got a form letter response 4 days later (Oct 26):

Hi,

Due to the overwhelming response to the rebate that is being offered by U-Verse at this time there is a slight delay in receiving your rebate. However by now you should have received an apology letter and rebate is soon to follow.

U-verse appreciates your business and sincerely hopes that you are enjoying our services.

Thank you,

U-verse Care

I responded to U-Verse Care on Oct 27th with:

We have not received any apology letter. I don't think the issue is a delay in the receiving of the rebate, but rather the wrong rebate/reward has been posted to my account. Rewards center shows the 30-30-30 rebate instead of the U200 rebate. Please see my original email below. Thank you!

No response from U-Verse Care to date...I'm sure they're overwhelmed, so no big deal.

Today I get a postcard in the mail saying we're entitled to a reward at att.com/rewardcenter--I check it and its the same $50 reward for 30-30-30 that was sitting there before.

So...should my next step to contact Rewards Center 1-877 (I'll call instead of my pushover/sweet wife) or email U-Verse Care again?

Should I go ahead and claim the $50 reward for 30-30-30 or will that screw up my ability to get a different (correct) reward?

FattyAcid, you would need to call the reward center.

Re: Screwed up Rebate: Next Step?

I used the Contact Us link at rewardcenter.att.com to solve one of my issues. I phoned the unit and a CSR immediately fixed my problem with an expired award.

My scenario was:
Order placed on August 22nd with a VAR. His order-entry portal offered an install date of August 28th or 29th. When the order was confirmed by his counterpart in the AT&T Service Center, the install date magically moved to October 16th.

After waiting more than 50 days for the install to take place, I visited the Reward Center portal around October 22 and discovered that one of the rebates had expired on October 16th! The Reward Center CSR fixed this problem.

For a third rebate that the VAR suggested to be applicable, the Reward Center indicated that I needed to contact the Service Center, in order to validate the applicability of the VAR's representation's.
