[Cable HSI] Mediacom HELP HSI problem, speed issues, wits gon
I need help from Mediacom please. I have had low speeds for the last 3 weeks. Huge difference in
what I pay for which is Mediacom Max. 20 down 2 up and I have been getting 10 down and 1 up. I have a D-Link router extreme n router DIR-655 running the lastest firmware. I have called tech support 4 times. Saw a tech team out on 11/4. They told me it was a line problem. That a line tech would be out on 11/4/09 or 11/05/09. I was also told by the tech that it is not my router. I can access the router control and flash new firmware to the router. I need some help from someone that is willing to help. I pay over 230 a month for services to Mediacom. I think when someone pays $2,760 a year. They should get what they pay for please please help Mediacom

Rpaglia, I'd be happy to help! Send me an IM with the MAC address from your modem. And as Anonymous said, welcome to the forum!

Your downstream power is too high, your upstream is borderline low. What is your wiring setup? How many splitters, how many active outlets etc

Mediacom has their box on the outside of the house. At their box they have one power amplifier for the line going to tv's. For the digital boxes there are 5 outlets. There are also 5 tv's. There is one line going from their box to the cable modem. I think their are two splitters on the cable side of things.

So your modem line splits before the amplifier?

Re: [Cable HSI] Mediacom HELP HSI problem, speed issues, wits gon
The modem line splits after the amp. If I remember right it goes 1. Line from pole
2. Amplifier.
3. Line from modem to amp
I almost need to go outside and draw the setup.

I'm having a tech look into it, and I believe Anonymous is correct. I'll let you know what I hear tomorrow!

you cannot have your modem after the amp, it needs to be a two split on the main inline.. one two your modem the other to your amp for cable... your welcome

Re: [Cable HSI] Mediacom HELP HSI problem, speed issues, wits gon
Ya alot of house amps cause problems with the return on modems. You could try and unplug the amp and go that route. Like anon. said your modem lvls are hot, and im going to guess it a +10 amp so you could do away with the amp and see if your net is better. The error's in your log file are due to poor upstream, either the amp or an SNR issue, but remove the amp first to test, unless a tech comes out and wires it the right way
