Do all dch-3416 DVR's have issues with freezing?
I just got a dch-3416 DVR and it will randomly freeze and I can't change channels. A search showed that lots of people are having this problem and swaping the boxes for new ones made no difference. Is there a firmware fix for this?
My only other option may be to get a non dvr HDMI box.

I have had not one problem with mine, which I have had for over 18 months. You could be experiencing some other issue associated with a problem inside your house or your drop going to your house. Also, maybe a bad hard drive. I would suggest calling for a tech to come out and diagnose any possible issues you may have unbeknown to you.

Pretty common unfortunately. Even the newer DCX's that we have used have lock ups, and even worse bad recordings...
I would say go back and swap it for another.

This was an issue with guide A24 and earlier, but by A25 it was fixed. All area's should be on A25 by now.

How can I check the guide and firmware version? Also I heard there is a way to check the signal strength.

No freezing problems with mine, though very occasionally I do get slow response to remote control cmds.
